I’m Danny, and I help lead DC Bike Party, a monthly party ride through Washington, DC that brings together thousands of cyclists from across the region. Right now, I’m raising funds because recent storms damaged and destroyed many of the electronics stored inside our beloved Sound Bike. The sound system is central to the music and atmosphere of the ride, and the music is something I put a lot of heart into each month. I don’t just let The Algorithm decide what people hear. I curate each playlist around the monthly theme, aiming to share positive energy, thoughtful moods, and sounds that help move us somewhere good together. These funds will help us repair and replace the damaged equipment, starting with the cheapest and easiest items and working up to the most expensive and difficult. If there is anything left over, it will go into our rainy day fund to help cover future needs, since DC Bike Party has very few regular expenses.
Every month, our volunteer-powered group creates a new route, a new playlist, and a new post-ride gathering to help people connect with each other and with the city we share. Keeping this ride free and open to everyone matters deeply to us. We want DC Bike Party to feel welcoming, joyful, and community-driven—the opposite of the exclusivity that shows up so often in everyday life.
If you’ve ever been moved by our music, our rides, or the communal spirit of DC Bike Party, I’d be truly grateful for your support. Your contribution will help us keep the ride free, accessible, and full of the energy that makes this community so special. Thank you for helping us keep the Sound Bike rolling and the party going for everyone.
