Rallying Around Patrick: A Circle of Care for the Road Ahead
Dear Family, Friends and extended Village,
We’re writing to you today with full hearts and open hands—on behalf of our dear friend, brother and soul-companion, Patrick Numair. Just a few weeks ago, Patrick was DJ’ing, producing music and co-stewarding their land based housing cooperative, Landwell. Seemingly overnight, he's received a Stage 4 rectal cancer diagnosis with metastases in his liver and tailbone. The shift has been sudden and seismic.
Patrick and Sorah are approaching this diagnosis with extraordinary honesty and courage. At the same time, it’s upended every aspect of their lives. Patrick’s doctors have him unable to work for a minimum 9 months while he undergoes a series of chemo, radiation & surgery treatments to save his life. Patrick has had to cancel 100% of his work for the next 9 months, a net loss so far of $70,000.
As a self-employed owner of a successful business, Patrick was devastated to discover he’s not eligible to receive any state disability (SDI) that regular w2 employees have access to. This is a big blow. Their family has 3 months emergency savings, but not enough to weather a full 9 months without his income. As friends and chosen family, we want to help lift some of the burden so Patrick can focus on what matters most: resting and strengthening, to heal this life threatening challenge.
We’re raising funds to support:
- Lost income from canceled work
- Medical costs + integrative therapies not covered by health insurance
- Caregiver support for his family who also depend on his livelihood
- Breathing room—so he can truly rest and heal through chemo, radiation & surgery
If you’ve been touched by Patrick’s medicine: his music, his laughter, his loyalty, his community building, his spirit—this is a moment to give back. Whether you can offer financial support, drop-off food, spend time or simply share this campaign with others, THANK YOU. Every gesture is a thread in this larger net of care we are weaving together around him.
If you are interested in offering support in other ways such as meal train or healing sessions, you can join Patrick's LotsaHelpingHands community which has opportunities to sign up for various kinds of support.
