I never got to meet my grandmother, but discovering I have living family in Spain has changed everything.

In just a short time, this door closes forever - but with your help, I can walk through it on my 40th birthday.

A Life-Changing Discovery

My grandmother was born in Madrid in the 1930's. During Franco's regime, she fled to the UK, where she met my grandfather, also a refugee from another land - two displaced souls who built a new life together. She died in the early 80's, a few years before I was born.

I spent my whole life not knowing her, not knowing that side of my family existed. Growing up, there was always this empty space - questions about where I came from, who I looked like, what stories I'd missed.

Then recently, everything changed. I discovered I have relatives alive in Spain - family I've never met, stories I've never heard, connections I never knew were possible. Cousins. Aunts. Uncles. People who knew my grandmother. People who carry the same history I do.

And Spain's citizenship deadline? 21nd October 2025 - my 40th birthday.

I don't believe in fate, but this timing took my breath away.

My Legal Right

Under Spain's Democratic Memory Law, I automatically qualify to apply for this type of citizenship. My grandmother was Spanish and lived through Franco's regime. Like so many others, she was forced to flee, seeking a better life beyond Spain's borders - a decision that left her stateless and stripped of the identity that was rightfully hers.

I want to reclaim what was cruelly taken from her. I want to honor her memory and carry forward the heritage she had to leave behind.

This isn't just about paperwork - it's about restoring what Franco's regime stole from my family.

The only barrier standing between me and my birthright is the cost of proving my case.

Why This Matters So Much

Spanish citizenship means I can finally:

  • Visit my family in Spain freely - no visa complications, no time limits, just... family....rebuilding connections.
  • Honour my grandmother's memory by reclaiming what Franco's regime took from her.
  • Build the connection to my heritage I've missed my entire life.
  • Work across EU countries without restrictions.
  • Access European healthcare and education systems.

Imagine turning 40 knowing there are people out there who share your blood, your history, your grandmother's eyes - but you can't reach them. That's where I am.

This isn't about collecting passports. It's about finally belonging somewhere I should have belonged all along.

The Financial Reality

Spanish documents and processing: ~7,000 SEK

UK documents with expedited service: ~5,515 SEK

Apostille certifications: ~10,000 SEK

Professional translations: ~6,000 SEK

Travel and consultation: ~2,000 SEK

Administrative costs and contingencies: ~15,000 SEK

Target: 45,515 SEK

The Clock Is Ticking:

With only a few days until the October 21st deadline, I need funds immediately to finalize legal preparation and secure all documents, translations, and certifications. The lawyers are ready to move - they're just waiting for payment to begin the expedited process.

Every day of delay puts this entire dream at risk.

Every day of delay puts this entire dream at risk.

How You Can Help

Every Amount Brings Me Closer to My Family:

The Power of Many: If 455 people give 100 SEK, I reach my goal. If 91 people give 500 SEK, I'm there. If 46 people give 1,000 SEK, this becomes real.

This isn't about one person saving the day - it's about all of us, together, making something impossible become possible.

For Those Able to Give More:

If you can contribute 5,000 SEK or above, you're doing something extraordinary - you're reuniting a family separated by history. You're undoing what Franco's regime tore apart.

Your generosity means:

  • Lawyers can start work immediately without me scrambling for funds.
  • All documents can be fast-tracked
  • I can actually make the deadline - because large contributions are what make impossible timelines possible.

Whether you give 50 SEK or 5,000 SEK, or any number, you're part of this story.

Every contribution matters. Every share matters. You all matter.

What This Milestone Birthday Could Mean

Most people celebrate turning 40 with a party. I want to celebrate mine by finally meeting the family I never knew existed. By walking into a room in Spain and hearing stories about the grandmother and her relatives, who shaped half of who I am.
By coming home.

Please help me meet my family, honour my grandmother's memory, and reclaim my Spanish heritage for my 40th birthday.

Every contribution - no matter the size - brings me one step closer to the grandmother I never met and the family I'm just discovering.

Can't donate right now? Sharing this campaign is just as powerful, share passionately, keep sharing, create a 'share chain'. Post it, send it to a friend, share it in a group. You never know who might see it and be moved to help. If you can donate financially and by sharing, I'd appreciate that very much as well.

Thank you for being part of my journey home.

With deep gratitude,
Rose
