Hi, my name is El, and I’ve just been a victim of what’s becoming a trendy crime: high-end bike theft.
You can see the full news coverage of what happened here.
This bike wasn’t just a purchase.. it was a turning point.
After years of struggling with my mental health, I finally began rebuilding my life through community, sport, and movement. When my dad was diagnosed with stage 2 cancer, and my partner’s dad said he’d give one last go at his mountain bike race, it hit me: life is short. That’s when I decided to finally pull the trigger and buy the bike.
Since then, cycling became my way back, back to fitness, to social activities, to purpose. I got involved in events again, from local rides, races & competitions, to our annual Gears and Beers race, something I looked forward to every year.
It gave me a reason to train, to connect, and to feel like myself again.
Having that stolen so suddenly has been gutting. It wasn’t just a bike; it represented progress, stability, and community.
If you can help in any way, it would mean the world.. whether that’s through a donation, sharing this story, or just sending a message of support. Every bit helps me get back on two wheels and keep pushing forward.
Thank you,
El
