My name is Agatha, and I am raising funds for my friend Maria, who is trying to hire a lawyer to fight for her partner, Ranulfo. In mid-December of this year, Ranulfo and Maria were driving home from the store and were pulled over by ICE. Ranulfo was detained and is currently being held in an immigration detention center in Kentucky.
Maria and Ranulfo met in Mexico and they both came to the U.S. together, three years ago, seeking a better life. Ranulfo has been a loving partner to Maria, and caregiver to her two school-age daughters. Maria is determined to fight for Ranulfo's freedom, and keep hope alive, that one day she will be reunited with Ranulfo. Maria is Ranulfo's only family here in the U.S., and has left no stone unturned to find a pathway to bringing
Maria has found an immigration attorney willing to take Ranulfo’s case but with a single income and two daughters to care for, she does not have the resources for the deposit and fees for the attorney to take the case. She has saved $1,000 for the initial deposit. I am hoping to help raise $2,500 for the remainder of the deposit, which is needed to initiate the case. In the months ahead, additional legal fees are estimated at $6,000 to support Ranulfo's legal representation, including posting bond, court filings, etc.
I hope you will join me in fighting alongside Maria, to advocate for her partner.
