Hi everyone, I'm Liz Essex, and my girlfriend Vicky Moto and I are reaching out for your support. We're facing a difficult and increasingly hostile situation for transgender individuals in our current home in the south, and our safety and well-being are increasingly at risk. Our goal is to relocate to Minneapolis, Minnesota, by the end of September. Minnesota is a sanctuary state that offers a much safer and more welcoming environment for transgender folks, and we're especially eager to get there because we have a strong support system of friends who have already made the move to the Twin Cities. We can't wait to be reunited with them.
Moving is expensive, and we're struggling to gather all the necessary funds to make this vital transition, which will greatly improve our quality of life and provide us with the safety we desperately need. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in helping us secure a safer future.
How Your Support Will Help (Our Estimated Costs):
We want to be transparent about how your generous contributions will be used. Here's a breakdown of our estimated moving and initial living expenses:
U-Haul Rental: $1812.85 after taxes
Gas: $416
U-Haul gas total: $288
Vicky’s car gas total: $128
Renter's Insurance (3 months): $90 ($30/month to protect our belongings)
Apartment Fees: $530
Applications: $65 x 2 = $130
Apartment Security Deposit = $400
Pet Security Deposits: $200 x 2 = $400
Rent (3 months): $3,600 ($1,200/month for our initial three months while we settle in)
GoFundMe Fee of 2.9%: $199
Our total estimated need is $7,047. Every dollar brings us closer to our goal and to a place where we can live with increased security, opportunity, improved healthcare, and importantly, live without fear.
We understand that times are tough for everyone, and we're incredibly grateful for any help you can provide. Your generosity will not only alleviate a significant financial burden but also directly contribute to our safety and well-being. We hope that one day, we'll be in a position to pay forward the kindness you show us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Elizabeth Essex and Vicky Moto
