Help Ellie Volunteer in Kenya – A Life-Changing Expedition!
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Ellie, I’m 14 years old and I live in Oughtibridge, Sheffield. I’m a student at Bradfield Secondary School and I’ve been given an incredible opportunity — in 2027, I’ll be travelling to Kenya with Camp International for a 4-week volunteer expedition that will help change lives — including my own.
This isn’t just a school trip. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to make a real difference in the world. I’ll be living and working alongside rural communities in Kenya to:
- Raise the educational standards of developing communities within a rural district of Kenya
- Raise the living standards of developing communities, within a rural district of Kenya
- Assist with ongoing wildlife conservation programs to preserve biodiversity and protect vulnerable habitats.
This expedition is extremely important to me because I feel that I will acquire and develop many important skills.
This trip will allow me to work directly with local organisations, assisting in projects that focus on education, healthcare and sustainable living. The need for support in these areas in profound, as many individuals and families face challenges that hinder their growth and well being.
What Is Camp Kenya and How Will I Help?
Camp Kenya is part of Camps International, an award-winning social enterprise that runs ethical and sustainable volunteering programmes around the world. Their projects are designed to tackle real issues faced by rural communities — and I’ll be right there, getting involved.
Want to see what it’s all about? Watch these inspiring videos from the Camps International YouTube channel:
These videos give you a real feel for the powerful work being done — and the kind of life-changing experience I’m working so hard to be a part of.
I’m passionate about making a difference. I’m studying French, History, and Health & Social Care for my GCSEs, and I dance with Dance Dynamics, a brilliant local dance school that’s taught me discipline, confidence, and resilience.
But this trip costs £5,190, and I know I need to work hard to earn my place. That’s why I’m throwing myself into fundraising with everything I’ve got. I’ll be doing:
Climbing Mount Snowdon in July 2025
Climbing Ben Nevis in 2026
Car washes for my local community
Bake sales in the local community
Event hosting
Community fundraising stalls
And much more!
I will provide regular updates on my page with my fundraising efforts and the things i have been up too.
I’m not just asking for donations — I’m asking you to invest in something bigger. In a young person who’s determined to help others, grow, and be part of something meaningful.
The communities I will be working with will have little income other than the subsistence farming, with drought, infertile soils and crop sabotage from wildlife, it is no wonder there often isn't enough food to go around.
I need to fund raise £5,190 to enable me to take part in the expedition.
Your donation isn't just a contribution it's an investment in positive change. Together we can empower communities, safeguard wildlife and leave a lasting legacy of compassion and conservation.
Previously, with the help of students like me, Camp International have; positively impacted the lives of over 120,000 people, provided homes for more than 60 of the poorest families, helped to protect 250,000 hectares of wilderness in 7 of the world's biodiverse hotspots, vaccinated more than 34,000 livestock and established at least 1.1 million extra tress.
Please support me in this meaningful endeavour, and together we can make a difference
If you’re a local business, I’d love to feature your logo on my expedition T-shirt and give you a shout-out on social media and through school updates — so your support is seen and appreciated.
Please help me get to Kenya. Every donation, big or small, will help me take another step towards this life-changing experience. Thank you so much for reading my story.
Ellie x
