I am humbly requesting your support for an important cause that is very close to my heart - my Fundraiser: "Help Danouta Seek Justice for Vitaliy's Murder".
On May 3rd, 2024, my world shattered when my beloved son, Vitaliy Zaytsev, was murdered. He was shot three times in the head while sitting in his car near his home in Fair Oaks, California, passing away at 11:03 pm that night.
The pain of this loss is compounded by the betrayal behind it. On May 9th, 2024, three people were arrested: Vitaliy's girlfriend of eight years, Jeannette N., her son Michael E., and his associate Miguel E. All three have been charged with murder with special circumstances and awaiting trial.
The people my son once considered family took not only his life but also seized his house, his cherished dogs, his cars, and his personal belongings. As Vitaliy's mother, I cannot rest until justice is served. I'm reaching out to ask for your help in this fight.
Recent developments in my son Vitaliy’s civil and probate cases have depleted my financial resources. I am drowning in legal fees as I fight for the injustice that has been done to my beloved son Vitaliy by these criminals. These developments require additional investigation of financial fraud, legal research, expertise of attorneys of different specialties, including probate litigation, wrongful death litigation, and others.
I have also incurred tremendous travel expenses taking multiple trips to California and New York to meet with my legal team, to attend the hearings, testifying as a witness in civil and probate matters, dealing with law enforcement and recovering my son's personal belongings.
Vitaliy was my sunshine, my everything. He was only 41 years old, but he had already accomplished so much. As a CVS store manager, he supervised both pharmacy and retail operations, working 50-60 hours weekly. His dedication and warmth made him one of the company's leading managers, first in Massachusetts and then in California.
Just weeks before his death, in April 2024, he courageously protected his employees and customers during an armed robbery at his Folsom store, earning recognition from the local police department for his bravery.
My son was extraordinary in so many ways. He spoke five languages fluently: English, Spanish, Ukrainian, Polish, and Russian. He was an accomplished swimmer and golfer, loved cooking and traveling, and took pride in maintaining his Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Cherokee, and Kawasaki motorcycle.
But more than his achievements, it was his character that truly defined him. Vitaliy had a gift for connecting with people, treating everyone - from elderly neighbors to his beloved pets (his cat Bri and French bulldogs Echo and Zeeke) - with genuine kindness and respect.
I am aiming to raise $50,000. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help ensure that those responsible for this heinous crime are held accountable. Your support will help me to continue my legal battle and honor Vitaliy's memory.
With deepest gratitude,
Danouta Sheliga-Topchian
