Help Brandon fight for his life (and a diagnosis)

Donation protected
Imagine being 30 years old, in the prime of your life, and suddenly losing everything to a pain so severe you can’t even sit at your own dinner table.

My name is Tyra, and I’m writing this because I’m watching my partner, Brandon, disappear.
Brandon has always been the provider—a hardworking blue-collar tradesman who has been on job sites since he was 16. He’s the guy who never complains and always shows up. But for the last 2 years, Brandon has been living a nightmare. He is suffering from debilitating cysts affecting his testicles and urinary system that have left him effectively disabled.

The Reality of His Daily Life:
  • Constant Agony: He cannot sit in a chair or a car for more than 20 minutes. He cannot sleep for more than an hour at a time because the pain is so sharp.
  • Health Complications: Because the system has offered no real pain management, he was told to rely on Ibuprofen—which has now caused painful stomach ulcers. He is nauseous, losing weight, and in a constant state of physical crisis.
  • The "Waitlist" Trap: We’ve been told it will be another 10 months just to see a urologist in Alberta.

Why we are asking for help:
The healthcare system isn't the only thing failing us; the financial safety net is too. Because Brandon doesn’t have a "formal diagnosis" from a specialist yet, he doesn't qualify for disability. His EI has run out, and because he can no longer physically do his job, he was let go.

To keep our home, I am working 14-hour shifts, seven days a week (9:00 AM to 11:00 PM). I am doing everything I can, but it isn't enough to cover the mounting medical costs, clothing that doesn’t add to and aggravate his pain, and the daily bills that don't stop just because he’s sick.

Your donations will go directly toward:
  • Life Essentials: Because Brandon can no longer work and his EI has been exhausted, we are struggling to cover the most basic human needs—rent, utilities, and even essential hygiene products and groceries.
  • Medical Advocacy & Care: Funds will allow us to seek private urological consultations to bypass the 10-month waitlist that is leaving him in agony.
  • Wound & Pain Care: To manage his stomach ulcers and urological symptoms, including specialized supplies and medications not covered by basic provincial health.

Brandon is more than a statistic on a waitlist. He is a son, a brother, and my best friend. He deserves to live without excruciating pain.

If you cannot donate, please consider sharing our story. We are tired of fighting this alone, and your support means the world to us.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

*A Note on This Campaign’s Management:
My name is Brandy, and I am a close friend of Brandon and Tyra. I am managing this GoFundMe on their behalf because, right now, their focus needs to be entirely on Brandon’s health and Tyra’s grueling work schedule.

Between Tyra’s 14-hour shifts and Brandon’s debilitating pain, they simply do not have the bandwidth to manage the technical side of this fundraiser. I am here to ensure their story is told, updates are shared, and—most importantly—that every dollar raised goes directly to them.

How the funds reach them:
All donations are set up to go directly into a dedicated account for Brandon and Tyra.

Thank you for trusting me to help them through this. If you have any questions about how the funds are being used or want to send a personal message to Brandon and Tyra, please feel free to reach out through the "Contact" button on this page.*
