Toy Drive for Amazon workers' kids!!

They pack toys all day yet can’t afford them for their own kids.

Amazon workers are the elves who help you bring joy to the children in your life.

Will you help them with a donation for gifts to their kids?

The modest goal of $2,500 will help us supplement the goal of $35 a gift for about 100 children. Any amount that is received over our goal will be used to buy grocery gift cards for workers. Any amount is gratefully received.

Amazon workers struggle every day to stay safe as they work long hours for less than a living wage. This time of year is called PEAK and every worker is required to work extra hours; some workers go from 9 hours a day to 10, 10 hours to 11, and those who work 3 - 12 hour shifts are scheduled to work 4 - 12 hour shifts.

These extra hours are called MET, Mandatory Extra Time, and there are no excuses accepted for not working the extra hours. PEAK regularly runs from the day after Thanksgiving through Christmas Day. This year MET began Nov 15th with 2 days' notice. Extending hours and changing schedules interferes with childcare, second jobs, sleep, and safety.

Parents in the building have no option but to work the schedules they are given and scramble to work out how to care for their families, knowing they have to work this extra time for the next six weeks. While they do earn "EXTRA" money, it goes to the bills and needs that have piled up, leaving very little money and time to shop for Christmas gifts. Meanwhile, every toy and item that comes down the conveyor belt, packed into carts and bins and loaded into trucks for delivery for customers, is another reminder of what they wish they could give to their own kids.

The CAUSE Community Committee is a group of folks from the Raleigh area community who meet regularly and work together to support Amazon workers and their families. From food drives to making copies of flyers with information on community resources and initiatives that are available to assist low-wage workers, the Community Committee is dedicated to helping our neighbors who work inside Amazon.
