Help Amanda After Tragic Loss

Greetings~

We invite everyone to take a few moments to contemplate and & reflect on how we can, as a community, support our vibrant and valuable members when the worst has happened. WHAT can we do?

It is with the heaviest of hearts that the friends of Amanda George Greenwood share the devastating news that her husband, Robert Greenwood, lost his battle with mental illness and life with suicide on June 12, 2025. The mere shock & unfathomable grief have left Amanda and her family nearly paralyzed.

Amanda needs her community, who she has consistently served for over 20 years. Her professional career started as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Yampa Valley Medical Center, which involved feeding, bathing, toileting and assisting with all cares of those who found themselves in need. After putting herself through nursing school as a divorced mom, she has continued to care for so many patients as UCHealth as an RN. Her entire career has been solely within the walls of our beloved, local hospital. As a witness to all who entered this world, left this world, and everything in between, Amanda treated all patients with dignity and grace, and was consistently a role model to her peers for this gift.

Education surrounding mental health is finally receiving much needed attention. Education is valuable knowledge, but knowledge is nothing without action. Suicide prevention is not simply about keeping a person from dying; it is also about preventing the tidal wave of despair which can destroy the lives of those left behind.

The whys no longer matter. We need to help Amanda and her son get on their feet, and we must continue to walk with them on this incredibly difficult journey.
