My name is Sara Hassan and I am working with the Goodwill Humanitarian Foundation in Uganda.

This fundraiser began with the intention of helping the community of Butandiga, Uganda replace the carpet in their masjid. Over time, and through a year of close support, it became clear that one-time donations alone are not enough for a small, remote community located over 300 km from the main city—especially when larger charities are unable to support them.

After open discussions with community leaders, we shifted toward a sustainable solution: investing in a community-owned taxi.

Transportation is essential in their region. A taxi would provide steady, halal income—helping cover masjid needs, support families, and reduce long-term dependence on donations. This approach allows the community to sustain itself with dignity and stability.

As Ramadan approaches—a month of multiplied reward—we invite you to be part of a form of sadaqah jariyah that continues beyond a single donation.

If you’re unable to give, sharing this fundraiser is also a form of charity.

Our Goal:

Our goal is to raise $15,000 CAD to purchase a 7-seater (or larger) vehicle that will be used as a community taxi in Butandiga, Uganda.

This vehicle will provide reliable transportation across long distances and generate steady, halal income for the community. With the income earned from the taxi, the community will be able to:

Access clean food and safe drinking water

Support education for their children

Maintain their masjid and basic community needs

Reduce long-term dependence on external donations

This is not a temporary solution—it is an investment in self-sufficiency, dignity, and lasting impact.
