From One Flag to 100: Love Overcomes Hate
Donation protected
Hi everyone. Someone or someones vandalized a number of Pride flags in the Mac Groveland and Highland neighborhoods yesterday. As a neighbor and friend of one of the families affected, I decided to launch this fundraiser.
There is no place for hate in our community!
The vandal thought they could make Pride invisible by destroying it. Our response was to show solidarity and love for the LGBTQ+ community, making our existence far more visible. Together we decided to replace one flag with one hundred flags!
We are fundraising to show pride in the neighborhood. As a token of appreciation for your support, our generous donors will be the first to receive information to collect a free flag or yard sign.
Let's unite our community with this visible reminder of love and solidarity in connection.
We recognize that flags are not the solution to gender and sexuality-driven violence in our neighborhood or in our country, but that increased visibility makes all LGBTQ+ folks safer. Once we have obtained flags and yard signs for the neighborhood, we are designating all remaining funds to support barrier-free mental health services for LGBTQIA+ youth.
Plans for funds raised:
Donors will have the option to
1. Receive a free flag or yard sign, sourced from queer and trans businesses and artists.
AND/OR
2. Designate some or all of their donation to support RECLAIM, a Twin Cities-based organization, whose mission is to increase access to mental health care for queer and trans youth so they may reclaim their lives from oppression in all its forms. Funds will be delivered to RECLAIM by the organizer of this fundraiser.
*All flags will be purchased from LGBTQ+ owned businesses and artists.
