My Story

As a disabled Air Force Veteran and nonprofit leader, I’ve spent my life serving Veterans, First Responders, and their families. I’ve poured my heart into lifting others up and building community.

What’s hard for me to admit is that I don’t receive a paycheck for this work. I live on my VA disability income, which covers the basics but leaves little room for anything extra. Asking for help is humbling — but this season of life is teaching me that even those who give need to learn to receive.

Why This Matters So Much

My oldest son is an Air Force C-130 pilot. In January, he and his family moved to Germany. I have four grandchildren there who are growing up so quickly, and I miss them more than words can express.

In November, I’ll finally be flying to see them. This visit means everything to me:

• Spending Thanksgiving together as a family

• Meeting my new granddaughter for the very first time

• Celebrating my grandson’s second birthday with him

• Making up for lost time in play, laughter, and love with my two big girls

• Hugging my son and his wife, and feeling that family closeness again

I’ve secured my ticket, but I’m still paying it off. Travel itself brings added costs — food, transportation, and those inevitable unexpected expenses that come with international trips. With your support, I’ll be able to focus fully on being present with my son, my daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, instead of worrying over every dollar.
