Friends: separated by oceans, bonded by love

Donation protected
Hi everyone! For my birthday this year, I, once again, would love it if you are able to help my friend Chunchun. Many of you are well aware of our shared history. We grew up in the orphanage together under the exact same circumstances. She arrived at the orphanage before me. We were both tossed out by our birth parents, perhaps due to our inability to walk or perhaps due to their limited financial means. Whatever the reasons were, we were abandoned and left to fend for ourselves in an institution that at most took care of our basic needs and, at least, nearly killed us from the emotional/psychological and physical trauma we endured and witnessed. Some of the abuse, the cruelty, the injustices we saw, one should never have witnessed neither as a child nor as an adult. It would be an underestimate to say we have been deeply scarred, but hopefully not for life.

This donation is mainly to help her out with her daily living and medical expenses. Even though Chunchun is just barely 30, her menstration has totally stopped for quite some time now. She is fatigue and lethargic most of the time. Her back and sides have hurt so much that she was hospitalized for a month earlier this year. She is unable to get the medication she needs due to financial constraints. She is rationing to eat only two meals a day instead of three even though she is already thin as a rail.

For those of you who are interested in a more in depth and, yet, poorly written article I wrote about us a few years back, feel free to take a journey through this link: https://foreignpolicy.com/2016/12/15/i-was-adopted-from-a-chinese-orphanage-my-friend-wasnt-disabled-by-polio-adopted-by-americans-divergent-destinies/

I am so grateful I have been dealt with a different set of cards and have been given such a wonderful family in a country that is full of abundance. I have been given the best education. I have met some of the greatest talents this world has to offer. And yet, perhaps because I am still coming out of the shadows of my past, I find myself year after year unable to support Chunchun the way I would like to. So, once again, I am asking my network to please make a donation towards this fund for Chunchun if you have the means. Of course, finance is not the only way you can be giving. If you want to send a positive thought or write a nice message, I will be sure to pass along. I know we are all encountering various hardships of our own and/or are trying our best to get out of our own self-sabotaging ways.

I thank you for sending whatever is within your means and bandwidth. My birthday is Dec. 10, I would be thrilled if we could reach this goal by then. Together, we can do anything. Let's go nail this campaign and make the world a better place, one friend at a time.
