Hi everyone, my name is Jeriesha Johnson-Martin , and I am working toward launching Rooted in Change, a community-based program focused on supporting children, families, and individuals navigating difficult life situations.

As a CPS caseworker, foster parent, and MSW student, I have seen firsthand how difficult it can be for families to access support that feels safe, affordable, understanding, and judgment free. Many families are trying to navigate trauma, court involvement, parenting stress, mental health challenges, and relationship struggles while still trying to hold their lives together. Too often, services are limited, long waitlists exist, or families simply do not feel supported or understood.

Rooted in Change was created from both my professional and personal experiences. My goal is to create services that meet people where they are while helping families build healthier relationships, emotional awareness, stability, confidence, and long-term success. Flexible evening and weekend hours will help support family engagement and accessibility for working parents and caregivers.

Planned services include:

Parenting education and support

Domestic violence education

Emotional regulation support

Clinical therapeutic supervised visitation

Mental health support services for children

Wellness and support groups

Community-based family support services

This vision means a lot to me because I understand the realities families face both personally and professionally. I have spent years supporting children and parents in crisis while balancing graduate school, internship responsibilities, full-time work, foster parenting, and raising my own family. I truly believe families deserve support that focuses on healing, accountability, education, and empowerment rather than shame or judgment.

Funds raised will help with startup costs including:

Business registration and licensing

Insurance and legal fees

Office and meeting space

Program supplies and educational materials

Marketing and outreach

Transportation and operational costs
