Cards for Community - Stoneham, MA

Cards for Community was created to provide local restaurant gift cards to those in need within our community. A partnership has been created with Stoneham Bank, Chamber of Commerce, Public Schools, First Church Stoneham Food Pantry and local businesses.

This partnership will provide support to our local businesses which are feeling the impact of social distancing. In addition, the program will provide direct access to hot meals for Stoneham residents who are also feeling the impact of COVID-19.

How you can donate:

--Donate via the Go-Fund-Me page at

--Direct donations can be dropped off at the drive-through of Stoneham Bank made out to “Cards for Community” (deposit only)

--If you choose to purchase a gift card or have unused gift cards at home, please donate them in an envelope and drop off to the mail slot of
the First Congregational Church, 1 Church Street, Stoneham

How your donations will help:

-$25 gift cards will be purchased and handed out to the following Stoneham residents:

--Families who qualify for free/reduced school meals (570 children)

--Stoneham residents eligible to use the First Church Stoneham Food Pantry

--Stoneham residents eligible through other town organizations

We are excited that this program will give the ability for our community to come together and help our neighbors and local businesses while still social distancing.

The Cards for Community Team consists of three volunteers, employees from the First Congregational Church/Purpose School/SBOHFood Pantry.

Monies from this Go Fund Me will be deposited into an account that was set up at Stoneham Bank in CFC Name and under one member, Kathleen Bardell.   Deposits will be made into this account along with direct deposits.  When we meet the first goal for students,  purchases of $25 Gift Cards will be made from a card linked to the account from Stoneham Local Businesses.   The first 570 cards will be purchased when the full amount is donated will be provided to the Stoneham Schools through the Superintendents office and mailed out to the families directly.  (no students or families names will be shared)

The next sets will be purchased on the total number of existing clients and provided to the organizations listed below.

For safety and ensure that the funds are handled properly, all three of us will review the monthly account and purchases to balance back.  Once this is over, any remaining funds will be provided to the local food pantries and senior center.  All statements and reconciliations can be provided at any time.  The bank account will be closed when this campaign is over.  The account had a signed statement confirming it could not be open over a year.
