My name is River Williams, and I am a Life Scout with BSA Troop 13G. I am fundraising for my Eagle Project and am working with OutMemphis to create an outdoor seating area for the Youth Emergency Center. LGBTQ+ youth are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than their non-LGBTQ+ peers. The Youth Emergency Center provides support for LGBTQ+ young adults aged 16-24 in crisis. It includes a comprehensive plan of cultivated green space, accessible seating areas with shade, and sustainable and low-maintenance landscaping for aesthetic appeal. This outdoor seating space aims to be a loving environment, serving as a safe place for quiet reflection, group discussions, or simply enjoying fresh air.
