This year our family is building Spark the Firefly, a one-of-a-kind illuminated art car that will bring wonder, connection, and a little bit of magic to the playa. She was designed together as a family, and our daughters even came up with her name: Spark.

Burning Man has been part of our lives since 2007, and this year will be the third burn for our twin daughters, Leone and Aveline. One of the greatest gifts this community has given us is the friendships and creative collaborations that have grown over the years. Spark is a true labor of love, designed together as a family and brought to life with an amazing group of friends, artists, and makers.

Built on the chassis of a Ford Ranger, Spark is being fabricated by our friend and incredible artist, Andy "LostMachine" Tibbetts. Together we designed her as a giant glowing firefly, complete with a sculpted head, illuminated wings, and a segmented abdomen that doubles as a cozy mobile lounge. At night, her abdomen pulses with warm light like a real firefly, creating a welcoming space where people of all ages can gather, ride, and experience Black Rock City from a different perspective.

Right now Spark is taking shape at The Generator in Sparks, Nevada. Every week brings new progress as we're welding, sculpting, sewing, wiring, painting, and assembling each piece. It's late nights in the shop, friends stopping by after work to lend a hand, kids helping wherever they can, and everyone contributing their talents to create something none of us could build alone.

We're covering most of the project's cost ourselves, but we're asking the community to help us raise the final $3,500 for materials, lighting, fabrication supplies, and other essential build costs. Every donation helps turn raw materials into an experience that thousands of people will share.
