In July 2026, 11 trainee solicitors will take on Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, to raise funds for Ballymun Community Law Centre. Reviving an initiative first launched by Blackhall trainees in 2024, our goal is to raise €10,000 to support the Centre’s vital work ensuring access to justice in the Ballymun community.
Why This Matters:
Founded in 2002, Ballymun Community Law Centre provides free legal services to individuals and families facing unmet legal needs. Grounded in principles of human rights, equality and social justice, the Centre plays a vital role in ensuring access to justice.
In 2024 alone 368 people attended one of the Law Centre’s drop-in advice clinics with a solicitor and another 481 called the information helpline- a total of 849 legal queries addressed in the year. The Law Centre also provided 402 hours of mediation and conflict coaching, and ran legal education courses and community information sessions which empower community members to understand their rights
The Centre provides:
- Legal services - open-door legal clinics, legal advice helplines, legal representation, advocacy and legal information to empower the community.
- Alternative Dispute Resolution Services – helping individuals to resolve conflicts through mediation, one-to-one conflict coaching and providing conflict resolution training in primary schools and youth clubs.
- Legal Education – promoting law as a career path, better informing individuals of their rights through community legal information sessions and legal courses held throughout the year on various areas of law.
Together, these services help remove barriers to justice and provide support when people need it most.
Where Your Donation Goes:
The Centre operates on a small budget and depends on the support of donors to continue delivering its services. Every euro raised will go directly to the Centre and help people access legal advice, representation, and support when they are most vulnerable. By supporting this fundraiser, you are helping to break down barriers to justice and create meaningful, long-term change in Dublin’s northside community.
