Doula care team for medically harmed Mama & her baby

Donation protected
I just finished my first postpartum support shift with this family. Amazing Life Giver fighting for her life, and simply to be heard and have her voice respected within the medical system after birthing her baby.

You may have seen Natasha’s post that has gone viral regarding her recent medical obstetrical trauma here in our local hospitals.

Natasha is home now.

But “home” right now does not mean safe, supported, or able to rest.

Just days after surviving a life-threatening obstetric emergency, multiple surgeries, and an ICU stay, Natasha has been discharged into a reality where she is bedridden, unable to walk, and fully dependent on others for basic care.

She is recovering from:
   •   A catastrophic internal hemorrhage
   •   Two emergency surgeries
   •   A life-saving hysterectomy
   •   Severe blood loss and ICU-level trauma

And she is still not out of the woods.

Natasha continues to experience internal bleeding and remains medically vulnerable. Her body is still navigating the aftermath of a crisis that has not fully resolved.

This is not a typical postpartum recovery.

This is ongoing survival.

What Happened

Natasha’s medical emergency did not come out of nowhere.

She spoke up.

Again and again, she told providers that something was wrong. She advocated for her body, her pain, and her safety.

She was dismissed.

Her concerns were minimized. Her voice was questioned. Her instincts—accurate and urgent—were not acted on in time.

Only after continued escalation and advocacy was the severity of her condition recognized.

By then, she was hemorrhaging internally.

She was rushed into emergency surgery.

Her life was saved—but at an immense cost.

This was not just a medical crisis.

It was a failure to listen.

The Reality She Is Living In Now

Natasha cannot care for herself right now.

She cannot safely lift, carry, or consistently care for her newborn. She is navigating pain, exhaustion, and the emotional impact of everything her body has endured—while still medically fragile.

And yet—

There is no system in place to support her in this stage of recovery.

After surviving a preventable escalation, she has been discharged into a situation where she must now personally fund the care she depends on to heal and to safely parent her baby.

She is draining her savings to meet needs that should never have been left unmet.

Why This Support Is Critical

The early postpartum period—especially after trauma and ongoing medical risk—is a fragile, defining window.

Support during this time impacts:
   •   Physical healing and stabilization
   •   Monitoring for complications
   •   Nervous system regulation
   •   Infant bonding and feeding
   •   Long-term mental health

Natasha is currently being supported by a team of postpartum doulas, working together to ensure she and her baby are safely held during this critical time.

As part of this team, we are providing:
   •   Full newborn care support
   •   Continuous presence while she remains physically limited
   •   Nervous system stabilization and grounding
   •   Advocacy and continuity of care
   •   Creating the conditions for true rest while her body is still recovering

I joined this care team this week, and what I witnessed underscored how critical this support truly is.

This care is not extra.

It is what is making it possible for her to safely exist in this moment.

What We Are Raising Funds For

We are raising funds to cover two weeks of essential, continuous postpartum doula support, so that:
   •   Natasha can remain resting and healing
   •   Her condition can be supported while she is still at risk
   •   Her baby is safely cared for
   •   The family is not pushed into financial crisis following a medical emergency

️ A Call to Community

Natasha should not have had to fight this hard to be heard.

And she should not have to navigate this level of recovery—still at risk—on her own.

Right now, she is being held by a small circle.

We are asking for that circle to widen.

If you believe that patients deserve to be listened to…
If you believe that postpartum care is essential, especially after trauma…
If you believe that when systems fall short, community steps in…

This is that moment.

Every contribution helps create safety where there currently isn’t enough.

Every share expands the circle holding this family.

Let’s make sure she is not left to carry this alone.

Thank you for your support.
