The holiday season is rapidly approaching and that means it’s time for our 5th Annual Holiday Toy Drive for under privileged children in Jersey City. This will be our 3rd year partnering with the Boys and Girls Club of Hudson County (BCGHC) to provide toys to over 200 children at PS15 and PS41. These are the two of the most under resourced public schools in Jersey City. Last year we even had enough surplus to provide gifts for the Club’s three new housing project satellite program members! We're so happy to work with the great folks BCGHC again this year to support their efforts. This year we are also working with Ward E Councilman James Solomon to coordinate inclusion of children living in the Holland Gardens public housing complex.
Each year we have made this event bigger and better. We need your help to continue the growth to be able to benefit more and more children each year. Here are the funds raised by year:
· 2015 - $950
· 2016 - $1,900 (+100%)
· 2017 - $3,100 (+63%)
· 2018 - $4,426 (+42%)
This year we’re aiming to raise $6,000. Based on our success with the platform last year, we’ll be leveraging GoFundMe to help us streamline and track the drive. From the start, it’s been critically important to us that every dollar raised goes 100% to the children we’re raising money for. GoFundMe charges 2.9% + $0.30 per donation which Johanna and I will match (up to $1,000) to again ensure every dollar goes towards the cause. Regardless of where we end up, we will be making a huge impact in the lives of many children this holiday season.
As you all know, we rarely solicit donations for anything but believe that this is a truly worthy cause. As in previous years, I will be sending out a summary of all purchases made along with all receipts to ensure everything is well accounted for.
