Microlight for Dr Clauteaux in Venezuela

Pierre Clauteaux is a 38-year-old franco-venezuelan doctor specializing in tropical medicine. His work consists in providing medical care for the underpriviledged Pemon Indian populations of the Amazonian region of Venezuela. Resources are lacking and hundreds of cases of malaria, leishmaniasis, tuberculosis, trauma and difficult labour require attention. Dr. Clauteaux is in charge of an area of approximately 10,000 km2, home to 38,000 Pemon Indians as well as a few hundred gold and diamond diggers.

Due to their history and culture, the different Pemon Indians communities in the South of Venezuela are very isolated. Accessing these communities can take several days by ATV, dugout canoe or by foot. The fastest way of reaching those remote places is by air and a microlight is the cheapest of air conveyances.

Dr. Clauteaux holds a micro-light pilot license, so a motorized delta would considerably improve the medical situation of those localities of the Gran Sabana region, furthest away from medical centers, by facilitating their access to healthcare.
