Hello Friends,

This past week was marked by tragedy with the senseless killing of George Floyd. We also witnessed carnage across the state and country, preventing  our neighbors' ability to grieve and peacefully exercise their constitutional rights. Evil, hatred, fear, and complacency created the environment for these terrible events.

We are proud Minnesotans and Twin Cities citizens. We believe this place is special because of its strong community support. That is why we are outraged and embarrassed one of our own was killed by those who swore to protect and serve ALL in our state.

At the same time - if we're honest - we must also recognize that each of us bears some responsibility in supporting a system that failed to protect George Floyd and so many other Minnesotans of color with fair and equal treatment under the law. 

And yet this is not just Minnesota's problem. Systemic racial division spans our country. It is a cancer and we are sick. The sheer size and complexity of the issue can feel overwhelming. Invariably we all ask - "what can I do?" We think the answer is: something; anything to bring more light to darkness; anything to bring more hope to despair. 

That is why we are asking you for 2 minutes and 2 dollars

2 Minutes:  This link  will take you to a pre-written email to the Minneapolis Police Department heads requesting justice for George Floyd and better support for the Minneapolis community.

2 Dollars: Please consider donating to the NAACP's Legal Defense and Education Fund. This historic and nationally recognized organization is the premier non-profit fighting for racial justice under the law.
