Hi, I’m Shane Carr, and I’m reaching out to you with a heartfelt request.
Ruth Pepito-Kim was given five years to live. She fought for nine. Four years longer than any doctor expected because that's who Ruth was. A fighter. A mother. A wife who refused to let breast cancer write the last chapter of her story.
Ruth leaves behind her husband Jason, their daughter Hannah, 18 and now in college, and their son Nathan, who is 10 years old.
This October, I'm racing Ironman Sacramento and every stroke, every pedal, every step is for Ruth and for families still in the fight against breast cancer.
140.6 miles is long. But it's nothing compared to 9 years of fighting for your life so your children can have their mom a little longer.
Jason and I chose three charities together: organizations that fund the research, support the families, and give women like Ruth moments of peace during the hardest season of their lives.
My combined goal is $10,000. Every dollar goes directly to these charities. All three are registered 501(c)(3) nonprofits, which means your employer may match your donation, doubling your impact.
I am fundraising for Inheritance of Hope. It serves young families facing the loss of a parent to terminal illness. Legacy retreats, support communities, and resources so no family has to walk this path alone. It also provides counseling services to help children cope with the loss of a parent. This one hit home for Jason's family.
From the bottom of my heart and with all my energy, I am humbled and so thankful for your support!
Much love,
Shane
