Mission

Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to crises. Applying our model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, WCK has served hundreds of millions of meals around the world. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes with urgency to start cooking meals for people in need. WCK serves comforting meals to communities impacted by disasters quickly by partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of community members and businesses. To support economies, WCK purchases local ingredients to cook with or distribute directly to families in need. Food provides not only nourishment but also comfort, hope and dignity—especially in times of crisis.

    Ali and his son Ahmad were forced to flee their home in southern Lebanon in 2024. Today, they live near WCK's kitchen in Zahlé, where they receive meals regularly. Ali lost his home, his taxi business, and his livelihood. Ahmad lost his leg when a wall collapsed on him—and still loves to play football every day. WCK teams are there for families like Ali's every day, sharing comforting meals during some of the hardest days of their lives. #ChefsForMidEast
