Nick Spaulding tragically died in a car accident shortly after graduating college in December 2014. Nick was a scholar and collegiate soccer player at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. He wore the number 24. To honor Nick’s life and legacy, his friends and family created both an academic scholarship in his name and an annual memorial soccer game played on thanksgiving morning each year. 

Your donation helps fund the Nick Spaulding Memorial Scholarship at Transylvania University. This scholarship helps a deserving student athlete studying business and accounting, attend a study abroad trip hosted by Transylvania University to experience international accounting firsthand. It also helps cement the legacy of one of Transylvania’s finest students, whose life was cut tragically short. The time has come again to start making preparations for the annual Nick Spaulding Thanksgiving Memorial Game! The Nick Spaulding Memorial scholarship goes towards funding one Transylvania University student-athlete’s May Term trip abroad to study accounting and finance on a global scale. The scholarship is designed to help a student-athlete who might not otherwise be able to attend the trip due to economic hardship. Obviously, in current times there are fewer opportunities to travel abroad, but we are eager to support a student-athlete’s academic journey in a slightly different capacity! With your help, the Nick Spaulding Memorial Scholarship fund has grown substantially each year, but we’re nowhere near finished! Eventually, we’d like to raise enough money to create an endowment, perpetually helping fund one deserving student-athlete’s pursuit of sports and higher education. For the second year in a row, this fund is being created through, and with the help of friends, family, and participants of the Nick Spaulding Thanksgiving Memorial Soccer Game. In an effort to raise money and awareness for Nick's namesake scholarship at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, we are using this platform to collect donations as seamlessly and conveniently as possible.

Nick's memorial scholarship  will help one deserving student-athlete interested in accounting or finance attended a short study abroad trip hosted by Transylvania University every other year. Your donation will go to part of this scholarship fund at Transylvania. Once the fund reaches $25,000 Transy has agreed to invest Nick's scholarship in its endowment, providing one deserving student-athlete with a scholarship to pursue his or her passion in sports while receiving an incredible education! Because of your generosity, we were able to beat our goal last year, and we would absolutely love your help in beating it again this year.

This fund is being set up by and through the friends, family and participants in the Nick Spaulding Thanksgiving Memorial soccer game. In an effort to raise money and awareness for Nick's namesake scholarship at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, we are using this platform to make donations as seamless and convenient as possible.

This scholarship works in two ways. In the short term, it will help one deserving student-athlete interested in accounting or finance attended a short study abroad trip hosted by Transylvania University every other year. In the long term, your donation will go to part of a larger scholarship fund at Transylvania. Once the larger fund reaches $25,000 Transy has agreed to back Nick's scholarship for LIFE, providing one deserving student with a $25,000 scholarship to pursue his or her passion while receiving a top notch education!
