Our new guy Jean-Luc, has been rushed to the ER vet and is in very, very guarded condition.  He has double pneumonia.  Jean-Luc's body will need full supportive treatment for the next 3 days...oxygen, IV antibiotics and fluids.  He has been in an oxygen tent since this afternoon so thankfully his temperature has gone down from 107 to 104.7. You may recognize him as Bandit, he was surrendered to a local shelter because he has an auto-immune disorder that affects his eyes.  This condition has compromised his body so he will need even more help to get well.  

His Emergency Vet costs will are estimated to be around $2000 per day so his medical costs will easily exceed $6000.

Today is $3 Thursday!  This is a very special fundraiser...one near and dear to our hearts!  In honor of Valentine's Day, we'd love for each of you to donate $3 to help with the Heartworm Treatment of our TXHR huskies. It's so easy and affordable to prevent heartworm in our pets, yet so many huskies come into rescue heartworm positive. For each husky we rescue, a heart worm test is completed to determine their status...this test is $30 per husky. If the test is positive for heartworms, the treatment cost is $400 per husky. In 2018, TXHR rescued 22 huskies who were Heartworm Positive and needed expensive treatments.  Please consider donating today on $3 Thursday to help us with these costs! "I don't know if he said 'tribe' or 'family' " ~Solo

Many of you saw the many pleas from the Fort Worth Shelter for this poor husky boy who had been hit by a car.   Sometimes you have to let your heart lead and even though we are closed to intake we could not let his boy loose his life!  Fifteen minutes before he was to be euthanized, we were able to tag him and save his life.  A volunteer rushed to his rescue and thanks to her, Solo is part of the TXHR Family.  Solo is now at our vets and undergoing surgery today!!!  Both of his hind legs are broken along with his pelvis.  Solo will need at least two surgeries.  One to place an external fixator in his left leg and pins/wires for his right leg.  Then once his legs have healed he will need surgery on his pelvis.  He has a 50/50 chance to save the left leg.

Even though he must have been in horrible, excruciating pain, Solo has remained incredibly sweet and loving.  Even climbing from one seat to another during his Freedom Ride to love on our rescuers young son.

We are thrilled that we could save Solo but now we need your help with his medical costs.  His surgeries alone will be approximately $4200 then his after-care and physical therapy will bring his vetting to at least $5000.  We are so grateful to you our supporters who help us #SaveMoreHuskies like #Solo.  We appreciate your consideration in donating to Solo.  Every dollar counts!!

Rose ~ "That's how we're gonna win. Not fighting what we hate, saving what we love." #thelastjedi Star Wars #Rose

Rose was rescued from a shelter down south and her owners refused to reclaim her. She came to us with serious eye issues and Heartworm Positive. It was determined by our vets that she was completely blind and needed to have one of her eyes removed. She had finally recovered from her eye surgery and heart worm treatment was ready for her very own Forever Family. But Rose had another set back...we've learned her right eye now needs to be removed plus the incision from her left  eye removal needs to be repaired.  We have already spent close to $2500 with her first eye removal surgery and heart worm treatment.  Her second surgery is estimated to cost around $2000.  Please consider donating to Texas Husky Rescue to help us with Rose's second surgery.  Rose is about 4 years old, a super sweet girl, great with other dogs and very happy! Tuesday, Texas Husky Rescue received an urgent plea from the Garland Animal Shelter regarding a stray they had picked up that had been severely injured by a car. There was no way we would let this guy strike out.  One of our dedicated husky warriors was on deck, relayed during rush hour traffic and got him to our ER vet. Crash Davis was in shock, suffering from severe bruising to his lungs and was having a difficult time breathing. Along with his lung trauma this boy had TWO broken legs! His front leg had a major league fracture and his humerus bone had been basically shattered. Crash's rear leg had been completely "cracked off" from his hip. He made it through Tuesday night without complications. So his surgery was scheduled for Thursday morning.

Crash had both his surgeries yesterday and came out like the Champ he is. His remarkable vet believes he is only 7 months old and should recover well. There is a 70% chance that his front leg will heal completely and not require amputation. 

Please send healing thoughts, love and prayers.  Crash has a long recovery road ahead of him.  Crash will need to remain in the ER until Monday or Tuesday.  He can barely move on his own and will need to be shifted every few hours.  Crash has a Power-Hitting Foster Family willing to give him the intensive care, patience and love that he will need after he leaves the ER next week.  

The staff at the ER vet cannot say enough nice things about Crash.  He has been sweet and patient throughout this whole ordeal.  Although he may miss a few seasons we know he will have the bases loaded for that game winning Homerun very soon.  

Crash's surgery alone was expected to be around $4000 now with the extended stay at the ER, his medical costs will exceed $5000.  Please consider donating to help TXHR cover the Crash's medical costs so they can #SaveMoreHuskies like Crash!!
