The original owners of Celtic Chaos plan to make a significant contribution, but we would love for others to join us in making a difference. Many of you who have followed racing on the NYRA circuit will remember the Chilean bred Turco Bravo. He is the tough chestnut who showed up every time and won multiple stakes, including back-to-back runnings of the Stymie in 2015/2016. He was claimed and running up at the Finger Lakes, since he is now 12 years old and the New York Racing Association will not allow a horse older than 10 to enter. After two years of trying, past connections were able to claim Turco Bravo with the intention of retiring him, and he is now headed to his forever home! Racing for Home, Inc. is helping to fundraise for Turco Bravo's care as he comes off the racetrack and prepares to start his new life. He is a warrior who is so deserving of this next chapter!

We are asking for your help! Our newest Off-Track Thoroughbred, Brookes All Mine, needs surgery. Our wonderful vet, Dr. Erin, has tried absolutely everything at the farm to get her comfortable - nothing has worked. Next step is surgery at Tufts Medical Center. 

Brooke is a beautiful, vibrant mare who is only 8 years old, and she worked hard on the track. She won 10 times out of her 54 starts. Please help us give her the life she deserves. Our goal for her is that she can live pain-free. This surgery is her last option, and we refuse to consider euthanasia while there is still hope that we can help her. 

Attached is an estimate of costs. Brooke arrives at Tufts on Monday, April 5, and has surgery scheduled for Tuesday, April 6. 

Any additional funds raised will be used for the long road ahead after her surgery. Any extra days spent at Tufts, pain medication following the procedure, follow-up veterinary visits with Dr. Erin, and trailering to and from the facility are some examples of how the additional funds will be put to use. 

Racing for Home does whatever we can for horses that require long rehab times due injuries, as they are often horses that other organizations can or will not take. We're not going to say no to Brooke. We didn't realize the extent of her injuries at first. This is a career ending injury - we don't want it to be a life ending injury. Hi, I am Mike Piazza, founder of Zilla Racing Stables (ZRS).  Two years ago I retired Easy Street, the first horse that I owned before starting ZRS to Racing for Home.  

Racing for Home is a certified 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to retraining and rehoming OTTBs, and to date, over twenty horses have been part of this program.

Founded in 2009 by Acacia Courtney, Racing for Home is a family owned not-for-profit. They use highly trained staff members, veterinary experts, and experienced trainers as part of its operation. They have a keen understanding of horses whose injuries require time and patience. Each animal is unique in his or her recovery and transition time.

Acacia is very involved in the horse racing industry, and works as the paddock analyst at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, FL, and also works for various bloodstock agents at horse sales around the country.

Racing for Home is managed by Acacia’s mother, Sherrie Courtney, who is a life-long equestrian and well experienced in transitioning OTTBs from the racetrack to a second career.

Many horses that have come through Racing for Home have been adopted into loving homes, but many more have become permanent members of the family and Racing for Home will care for them for the rest of their lives.

Sherrie and Acacia recently adopted two of ZRS's retired thoroughbreds, Firestar and Zigmund. We follow their progress and daily activities via the frequent updates posted on Sherrie's Twitter page. It is clear that these horses have become members of the family. The abundance of love and affection they receive is heartwarming to me and every member of ZRS. 

Racing for Home relies solely on private donations and occasional grants in order to function.
