As many of you may know from following our social media, Racing for Home, Inc. recently welcomed two ex-racehorses from Puerto Rico: Mintz and Fish Trappe Road.
Mintz started his racing career in Florida and New York, and then found himself running at the bottom level in PR. Thanks to his former owners, Centennial Farm, and the wonderful people on the ground at Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare, we were able to bring him back to the mainland and his forever home at Racing for Home. He is the sweetest, kindest horse, and we are determined to give him a life as close to pain-free as possible, but there's a long road ahead. Mintz has advanced osteoarthritis in both front fetlocks, and will be a pasture pet since he can have no second career.
Fish Trappe Road is a New York bred graded stakes winner who took the G3 Dwyer in 2016 at Belmont Park. As you may have read in our other fundraiser, he has had people looking out for him for a long time while running at the bottom level in PR. Thanks to Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare, he too has found his way back to the mainland and Racing for Home. Fish Trappe Road's ankles are enlarged, and is currently dealing with cellulitis in his hind leg. We are optimistic that with time and love he will be able to become a trail horse in the future.
Attached you will see two recent vet bills for Mintz and Fish Trappe Road. We are asking for help in caring for these two deserving ex-racehorses, and helping them live happy, pain-free lives at Racing for Home. Thank you as always for your support!
