Papyrus Prevention of Young Suicide

Hello, I’m raising money for PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide, a UK charity dedicated to preventing suicide in young people under 35. PAPYRUS runs HOPELINE247, a free, confidential support service available 24/7 for young people who are struggling, as well as for anyone worried about someone at risk. They also provide education, awareness, and training to help people recognise the signs of crisis and speak up before it’s too late.

The money raised will help PAPYRUS continue their vital work — keeping helplines open, supporting young people in moments of crisis, and promoting suicide prevention and mental health awareness across the UK.

This year, I’m also taking a personal step forward. I’m choosing to regain control, confront my fears, and push myself outside my comfort zone — not just for myself, but to help raise money and awareness for this cause.

This fundraiser is about showing that we as humans are strong enough to fight back, strong enough to speak out, and strong enough to support one another. No one should feel alone, and with the right support, help is always possible.

On March the 15th myself and Oscar will be running the Bath half in memory of Josh. Josh was an incredible friend to both of us and such a lovely person. He was an inspiration to all those around him.

We want to spread awareness on the importance of young people’s mental health in today’s world and the need to talk with your mates. This is why we have chosen to run for PAPYRUS. Below is some information on the charity.

On 24th May, my sister and I will be taking on HYROX Berlin Doubles to raise money for Papyrus, a charity dedicated to preventing young suicide. We’re doing it in memory of my beautiful best friend India, who sadly took her own life on 13th August last year. India was a complete ray of sunshine - unconditionally kind, beyond talented at everything, and was always her friends and family’s biggest supporter and encourager. She continues to inspire everyone who had the honour of knowing her and I am so proud to have been able to call her my best friend.

India, much to my admiration, competed in two HYROX events and kept encouraging me to start training so we could do one together. I wish more than anything we’d had that chance, but now I’ll be doing it with my sister in her honour, carrying her with me every step to the finish line.

On Sunday 8th March 2026 we will be taking part in the Great Welsh Marathon in memory of those people who are no longer with us, in particular an amazing young man, brother and friend, Josh Barnard. He was a kind, caring and adventurous individual, an inspiration to all of those around him. Josh had a great enthusiasm and energy for life and was always encouraging of others, especially in trying new activities in the great outdoors.

With this in mind, we started training hard throughout the winter months in order to undertake our very first marathon. We aim to raise awareness of the importance of young people's mental health and fundraise for mental health support services in the UK. Our chosen charity is PAPYRUS, Prevention of Young Suicide and any donation will help make an impact.

Hi! I'm Nate and attempting a challenge of summiting the highest mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis, a minimum of 5 times in 24 hours in winter conditions.

I completed a similar challenge at Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa in summer 2023 as well as Scafell Pike in autumn 2024. Now I'm taking it to the Highlands.

On the 7th February me and best friend Brandon will be taking on the 3 peak challenge. This will involve climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdown with the aim to complete it 24 hours. We’re doing this for a charity that is both close to our hearts as we have both had close friends/family that suffers with mental health issues. We’ve chosen this charity specifically as we lost a friend to suicide recently and feel as if it’s something that isn’t talked about enough.

100km for Suicide Awareness – Our January Challenge in memory of Thea, Harry and Nathan

This January, my son (Rueben 7) and I (Lucy) will be running 100km to raise money and awareness for suicide prevention. This cause is deeply personal to us — over the past few years, we’ve lost three people close to us to suicide. Their absence is felt every day, and it’s a reminder of how many people are struggling in silence.

We’re running not just for them, but for everyone who has been affected. We want to stand up, speak up, and help make sure more people get the support they need before it’s too late.

Suicide is often hidden — but the pain is real, and it touches families, friends, and entire communities. If our miles can help even one person feel seen, listened to, or supported, then every step is worth it.

Walking 100 Miles for Papyrus – Prevention of Young Suicide in the UK – Our Movember Challenge

This December, Adam and I are taking on a challenge that’s as much about endurance as it is about purpose. We’re walking 100 miles across the South Downs Way in just 4 days — from Winchester to Eastbourne — to raise awareness and funds for Papyrus, the UK charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide and the promotion of positive mental health and emotional well-being in young people.

But this isn’t just about the miles. It’s about starting conversations that too often stay silent. Suicide is the biggest killer of people aged 35 and under in the UK – around three-quarters are boys or young men hence why we see this challenge as crucial around Movember time. Every step we take is for young people who feel they cannot open up.

The South Downs Way is beautiful, but it’s not easy. The climbs, the long hours on our feet, and the unpredictable December weather will push us physically and mentally. But that’s part of the point — to remind ourselves that the hardest journeys are worth taking, and that no one should ever feel they have to walk their path alone.

We’re asking for your support — whether that’s through a donation, sharing our story, or simply checking in on a friend or family member who might be struggling. Every pound raised goes directly to Papyrus, funding vital programs that help young people live healthier, happier, longer lives.
