Everyday 5 people in Ohio alone, lose their life to suicide. And although suicide ranks 10th on The national list of leading causes of death in America, there is a shockingly low amount of resources allocated to the prevention of suicide. This is why a group of men have made it their mission to raise awareness and funds on behalf of the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation (OSPF) and were inspired to start the Ride for Hope. Hear from one of the riders below.
“On September 17th we will be riding across the state of Ohio starting in Cleveland and cycling over 300 miles to Cincinnati over the course of 4 days. In the weeks leading up to the ride we will be preparing physically and mentally by further educating ourselves on practical ways we can all help recognize those at risk of depression and loneliness. We ask that you would consider ways you can partner with us as we make this journey.
While we are not directly affiliated with Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation, all money raised will go directly to the OSPF to help fund their work in suicide prevention.
Ride for Hope is meant to be more than a bike ride. It is meant to inspire hope, eliminate stigma, educate, and spark conversation. It is meant to create a culture that recognizes and cares about individuals who struggle with depression and loneliness. It is meant to save lives.”
