Help Ollie Get the Surgery He Desperately Needs to be Out of Pain
For those of you who are new here, meet Ollie. Ollie is one of our very special permanent fosters, and he has an extremely rare genetic condition called Patellar Fracture and Dental Anomaly Syndrome (PADS). It is so rare that many veterinarians have never encountered it before, making his medical care especially complicated.
Because of his condition, Ollie will require specialized veterinary care for the rest of his life. Last year alone, his medical bills were in the tens of thousands... We knew taking him on meant committing to his lifelong medical needs, and we would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
If you know Ollie, you know exactly why. He is quite literally one of the easiest cats to care for. All he wants is food, affection, and pets at ALL times. He is the sweetest little guy who deserves so much more than the hand he was dealt. ❤️
And now, Ollie needs us again.
About two weeks ago, we noticed that the entire right side of his face began to swell. We immediately brought him to our primary veterinarian at Wyckoff Veterinary Hospital, where we learned that his gums were severely ulcerated and infected.
On top of the infection, Ollie is in extreme pain. Eating has become incredibly difficult for him, and he can no longer keep food in his mouth properly while trying to eat. Imagine being hungry, wanting to eat, and being unable to do so without experiencing significant pain. For a little guy whose favorite thing in the world is food, this is heartbreaking.
This Tuesday, we returned to VDS to discuss his condition and received an estimate for the surgery he desperately needs.
We need to raise $6,000 by next Tuesday to move forward with Ollie’s surgery.
This is where we are asking for your help.
Ollie’s PADS diagnosis makes his situation especially complicated, and he needs specialized treatment to address the damage and give him the best possible chance at healing. His veterinary team is recommending surgery, and we need to do everything we can to get him there.
We are doing everything in our power to care for the cats who depend on us, but the reality of rescue is that the medical expenses never stop. Between Ollie’s previous medical bills, his ongoing care, and the needs of the other animals who rely on us, we simply do not have the additional $6,000 needed to proceed with his surgery right now.
If we cannot raise these funds, we cannot move forward with the surgery as planned.
That is an incredibly difficult position to be in when you are looking at an animal who is suffering and depending on you to help him.
We are not asking because this is easy. We are asking because Ollie needs us, and we cannot give up on him.
He has already been through so much because of a condition he never asked for. He deserves the opportunity to eat comfortably, have his pain addressed, and enjoy the life he should have been able to live all along. He deserves to be spoiled with food and pets without every meal being a struggle.
We know $6,000 is a lot of money. We know not everyone is in a position to donate, and we never take any contribution for granted. But if enough people come together, even the smallest donations can make a meaningful difference.
Please consider donating whatever you can to help us reach our $6,000 goal before Tuesday. Every single dollar brings us one step closer to getting Ollie the surgery he needs.
If you cannot donate, please SHARE this fundraiser. You never know who might see it, who might be able to help, or how far one share can go.
Please help us give Ollie a chance. He has spent his life dealing with a rare and painful condition, and right now, he needs people in his corner more than ever.
We love you, Ollie. We are going to keep fighting for you.
PLEASE DONATE. PLEASE SHARE. PLEASE HELP US GET OLLIE THE CARE HE DESPERATELY NEEDS.
We have until next Tuesday to make this happen. Let’s get Ollie the help he needs to be out of pain…
