Jaffna Hindu Ladies’ College, ‘92 A/L batch fundraising global charity walk
We, the ’92 A/L batch alumnae of Jaffna Hindu Ladies’ College (JHLC), are organising a Global Charity Walk to raise funds to aid our alma mater augment its resources and facilities for learning opportunities in Computing and Technology.
JHLC, founded in 1943 in the city of Jaffna in the Northern province of Sri Lanka, is a Govt-funded secondary school for girls between 10 to 18 years of age. It opened its doors to pupils from all walks of life and economic backgrounds with boarding facilities for under-privileged students from far-flung areas. Over the years, it acquired a name as a leading, inspiring institution, with noble ideals, for the advancement of women’s education and their cultural pursuits. However, as a Govt-funded school, it lacks adequate funds for quality education in its curriculum for Computing and Technology related subjects that are increasingly reliant on online learning and zoom teaching becoming unavoidable in today’s changing world.
We, as a group of the alumnae, are launching a campaign to raise funds and contribute our mite to our alma mater, by taking part in a 10 km charity walk on May 14th, in partnership with Lotus Caring Hands. Our batchmates all over the world will step forward on this day, and each participant will walk 10 km. Together we will walk an equivalent of 200 km for our initiative and goal.
We seek your kind support and generosity to meet our minimum target of £5,000
All money raised will be donated to the school in aid of our intended purpose.
We urge well-wishers to think beyond your everyday circle of family and friends.
Challenge yourselves for a good cause. Your contribution can make an impact and be an instrument of change. Join us and be part of the problem solvers!
Thank You.
