Hi my name is Darryl Gardner and plan to run 5km a day this December to raise money for Hospice U.K.

Hospice UK is the national charity for hospice care in the United Kingdom, supporting organisation that provide medical, emotional, and practical support to people with life-limiting conditions and their families

Anybody who knows my family and I, will know my mother Julie Gardner spent nearly six months in St Margarets Hospice in Taunton Somerset, before passing away nearly 9 years ago.

If it wasn’t for the care and support of the Hospice team, it would have taken our close family a lot longer to find peace with what my beautiful Mum had to battle with after being diagnosed with both a Brain Tumour and Lung Cancer and for that I’m forever in their debt.

If you can spare just a £1 or £2 to help get me to the target of £500 that would be much appreciated.

I don't ask for sponshorship simply for doing something i enjoy, such as riding a bike, or even on occasion walking/running, but this isn't about me; this is for making hospice care available for more people. I've experienced the amazing impact it can have, but it needs help. Want to join me in supporting a good cause? I'm joining in Sir Chris Hoy's Tour de 4 Fundraiser ride on Sunday 7th September, and have been challenged to complete the 90km on my Brompton, so there is still an element of jeopardy. Don't worry, I’ll probably remember to unfold it for the event. I'm raising money for Hospice UK and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a lot or a little. Anything helps. Not the best weather and some of those roads are TERRIBLE, especially for wee wheels, but nothing like as hard as living with cancer, so no complaints.

Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Hospice UK, and any donation will help make an impact.

I am going to be running the London Marathon in April 2023. For those of you who know me, I’m not a runner in the slightest. But I am pushing myself to train and complete the marathon all in aid of Hospice care UK. Hospice UK provide end of life care to people who need it, no matter what age. They ensure the support and care to make those last days / weeks before saying goodbye as peaceful and stress free as possible. They offer support to the family during the end of life care stages and continue to support afterwards.

Hospice UK is the national charity for hospice and end of life care. They work to ensure everyone affected by death, dying and bereavement gets the care and support they need, when they need it. Hospice UK believe that everyone, no matter who they are, where they are or why they are ill, should receive the best possible care at the end of their life. No one should die in avoidable pain or suffering.
