Forgotten Cats, Inc. answered the call to rescue after a local posted on a message board about a colony of cats hanging out by a dumpster in Toughkenamon. They trapped 24 cats today and still have at least 10 more cats left to trap. All of these cats are very sick and therefore will require medical treatment beyond a simple spay/neuter. The trapped cats have been transported to the clinic to be examined and treated. Many of these cats appear to be suffering from upper respiratory infections, eye infections, wounds, unknown skin conditions, and severe malnourishment. Once these cats are healthy enough, they will be available for adoption or placed in a long term program that looks after feral cats. Forgotten Cats is committed to helping these cats get well, however, they can’t do it without the support of this amazing community. Forgotten Cats is a grass roots organization of dedicated volunteers making a big difference in the lives of cats in our area. They provide sterilization, medical treatments and adoptions for stray and abandoned cats. They have helped me a lot with the cats I rescue, so I wanted to do a fundraising for them to make sure they still have funds available to do their amazing work. These pictures are just a few of recent rescues…. They are making a big difference in our community.

Meet Carla — a sweet, playful 1-year-old cat who’s brought endless joy and comfort to everyone around her. Carla was trapped in lower delaware with a tumor the size of a golf ball on her nose! After many different treatments, the tumor continues to come and go and now her breathing, bones, and eyes are affected. Despite her brave spirit, she now struggles with pain, ulcers in her eyes, and her once bright, curious eyes are filled with discomfort.

Our vets have recommended that Carla see a specialist to determine the best course of action — whether that’s surgery, advanced treatment, or pain management to give her a fighting chance. Unfortunately, the cost of specialist consultations, diagnostics, and potential procedures is more than we can manage alone.

We’re reaching out for help to give Carla the care she needs and deserves. Every donation, no matter how small, will bring us one step closer to getting Carla the treatment that could save her life or at least ensure she’s comfortable and pain-free.

Please Save Gizmo!!! Another one of our amazing cats has come down with the deadly virus, FIP. This virus is 100 percent fatal without a lifesaving medication that costs THOUSANDS. We just can’t look our sweet cats in the face and say, you’re not worth this expense- we can’t and we won’t... However, the cost is enormous and it’s draining our already limited resources. Since you all so graciously donated for Julius’s FIP treatment last month he is alive and well. We can only pray Gizmo responds the same. With your donation, he will have a fighting chance. (Cost covers 3 months of medication, 3 rounds of bloodwork and two days in the ER).

Julius, a sweet and friendly kitty, is in a fight for his life. A devastating virus, FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis)

has taken over his little body.

The chances of Julius’s survival are high with the recently approved medication GS-441524 BUT Julius is in such bad shape that he cannot leave the ER. He is on intravenous fluids, dextrose and oxygen. Thankfully we are starting to see small improvements. If we can keep him stable, the medication will have time to start working.

As you may know, a stay at the emergency room is extremely expensive. We estimate Julius will need 3 days of care at the ER totaling approximately 4k plus the cost of a 3 month supply of FIP medication which will be at least 1500 dollars.

The cost is extraordinary but we are hopeful he will pull through. Those of us who know and love Julius are desperate to help this incredible cat who deserves to live. Please consider donating, no amount is too small.

As many of you know, at my work we have a small colony of cats that a couple of neighbors and myself take care of. We trap, neuter and release cats as they appear down here, which is too often unfortunately. Forgotten Cats is a huge part of keeping our colony healthy (and small!!). They treated Mittens when his paw was infected and neutered many of the others down here at a very low cost. Let's start the new year with a little, or large!, lump of money to donate directly to them!

Macaroon came to our rescue on a bitter cold day last month. He was found displaced within a feral cat colony. Macaroon was far from unsocialized, he was a happy and attention seeking kitty!

We neutered Macaroon and got his upper respiratory infection under control but was soon also diagnosed with eyelid agenisis. This is an eyelid deformity causing his eye lashes to lay directly on his eye ball causing them to scrape the surface with every blink. This deformity is not the same as entropion, it is far more complex and requires an eye specialist to surgically correct.

An unexpected and costly surgery is a huge drain on our limited resources and we’re hoping our cat-loving community can help us fundraise for Macaroon’s surgery.

Macaroon is currently on artificial tears to help keep him comfortable while he waits for surgery. Sadly, our specialist thinks his left eye has been damaged beyond repair and will likely need to be removed but there is hope to save his right eye if we can correct the deformity ASAP. No amount is too small. Please consider donating for Macaroon.

Hi so some of you know I'm a trapper and rescuer for Forgotten Cats. I made this go fund me for a very sweet boy I trapped. Sir Bunts A Lot was trapped in Philadelphia and taken into rescue. He got his name because he immediately bunts you for love and attention when you greet him. One of our volunteers noticed that he was having trouble breathing while she was caring for him. She took him to see the vet where it was determined that he needed to go to the emergency hospital. He was taken to Metropolitan Hospital where they discovered that he had fluid around his heart making it difficult for him to breathe. He was admitted so he could see the heart specialist. Sir Bunts A Lot was treated with medication and released and is in the best hands with an amazing medical foster. This is a huge and unexpected expense for any rescue. I would appreciate any help to cover this bill. He's an amazing cat and I'm grateful that his distress was noticed and he was treated. Sir Bunts A Lot is a very lucky boy to be indoors safe and loved. Thank you in advance for any help for Sir Bunts A Lot. It's very much appreciated.

Urgent funds are desperately needed for two critical cats who recently arrived at our shelter.

Oreo arrived Thursday emaciated and lethargic. Oreo had been found wandering a neighborhood displaced and distraught. Thankfully, he arrived at our shelter and not a moment too soon.

Oreo’s blood glucose was dangerously high and coupled with his physical exam our vets insisted he get to the ER immediately.

Our shelter manager raced Oreo to the ER not sure if he would even survive the half hour drive. She kept looking over her shoulder, into his carrier to see if he was still breathing.

Luckily Oreo has a chance at a normal life if we can get him stable with just a couple days in the ER. Please consider donating to his care. No amount is too small.

While Oreo has a chance at a full recovery we must mention a kitten who does not.

Rosie arrived to our shelter as a seemingly healthy kitten. She had her spay surgery and initial vaccines but within a week presented with strange pockets of fluid underneath her skin.

She was admitted to the ER where it was determined her kidneys were failing and far beyond repair.

It’s speculated that Rosie could have been poisoned. Both our team of veterinarians and the Emergency Room vets said she would not survive. She was humanely euthanized.

Rosie’s loss was a tough one for our rescue and one we tried to avoid at all costs but her kidneys were non-functional and no amount of additional care would’ve kept her with us. Sadly we had to say good bye.

Help Our Foster Kitty Chunk Get the Surgery He Needs to Survive!

Dear Friends and Animal Lovers,

We are reaching out with a heartfelt plea to please help Chunk get the treatment needed To Save His Life.

Chunk was admitted to ICU and diagnosed with Pyothorax - the presence of inflammatory fluid or pus within the chest cavity, which is the area between the lungs and the inner walls of the ribs. It is a serious, life threatening condition. Earlier in the week he seemed a bit off. He was evaluated by his Vet and blood drawn. On Saturday Chunk took a dramatic turn for the worse when he started mouth breathing.

Confirming a diagnosis required thoracic radiograph evaluation, and pleural fluid examination.

His first update <24 hours later ... A thoracostomy tube has been placed on the left side for draining, IV broad spectrum intravenous antibiotics are being administered and he is receiving supportive care. Chunk is fighting a fever that spikes, responds to meds and then spikes again.

The estimated cost is $10,000. His Treatment Plan Includes;

Chest tube drainage: Most cats need a chest tube for 5–10 days to drain the pus.

Antibiotics: Aggressive antibiotics administered intravenously to fight the infection.

Oxygen therapy: to stabilize Chunk

Blood work: This can evaluate the white and red blood cells, kidney and liver function, and more.

Chest x-rays and Scans: These can show the appearance of the lungs, ribs, trachea, and diaphragm.

Cytology and Fluid Analysis, Cultures and Blood Gas Panels

Six (6) - Eight (8) days hospitalization. Total days of stay in ICU is still TBD.

Chunk is a miracle kitty who has already survived FIP. Chunk and his two siblings were born in a trap at Forgotten Cats in March '23 and was my foster for 15 months. This Little guy is the sweetest, most affectionate, goofiest kitty I have been blessed to Foster in nine years and over 180 kitties through FC.

Chunk was chosen to be adopted by the same family who adopted his Sister. They waited 7 long months for Chunk to successfully complete FIP treatment and observation protocols.

Chunk joined his forever family three short months ago and he is loved dearly. .

Chunk’s adoptive family cannot afford the cost of the care he needs to be treated for Pyothorax. Anne (his adoptive Mom) is staying by his side. We brought him to Blue Pearl together and visited with him today. His Sister misses her brother. We desperately need your help to get him better.

Falling in love with Chunk is the easiest thing in the world to do. Losing Chunk would be devastating to let happen because of the high cost to provide the care he needs.

Without Intensive Care Hospitalization and treatment, he will die. Please, please help us help save him.

URGENT FUNDS NEEDED TO HELP SPIFFY BREATHE!!! Friends, we are desperate for your help. Spiffy needs emergency throat surgery, without which he will die.

Spiffy came to our shelter barely clinging to life. We weren’t sure he’d survive. He was incredibly sickly and emaciated. His low body temperature wouldn’t even regsiter on a thermometer. Spiffy was moments from death yet with supportive care and medication, Spiffy found the will to push through.

While Spiffy miraculously recovered we noticed audible breathing that our vets suspected was an issue with Spiffy's Larnyx. What would normally open and close as you breathe, Spiffy’s larynx was nearly sealed shut. This was making it incredibly difficult for Spiffy to breathe similar to breathing through a cocktail straw.

But Spiffy CAN breathe comfortably with an incredibly expensive surgery. As you may know, the cost of veterinary care is astronomical but we are desperate to help this sweet kitty. He’s come SO far and he could have a bright future ahead. Surgeons at PennVet can “pin back” Spiffy’s larynx allowing oxygen to finally enter normally.

Without surgery, the quality of life for Spiffy is too poor that the specialists have recommended euthanasia. Please consider donating to save our guy. He’s too sweet and gentle to experience so much suffering. Thank you
