Best friends since school Sharon West and Sharon Brown have supported each other through many things, Most notably Sharon W's Dad's cancer diagnosis and subsequent passing in 2020 and Sharon B's cancer diagnosis in 2024 (she is now fighting fit and ready for a challenge). During these difficult times both Sharon's received support from the amazing volunteers at Firefly. Firefly provides free transport to the people in Doncaster who require cancer treatment in Sheffield. It is a non profit charity and every penny goes directly back into keeping their fleet of vehicles on the road. Neither of us could have coped without the support Firefly gave us, not only with their transport but also their patience, kindness and empathy. We wanted to do something to thank the charity for everything they did and decided to take on a Sky Dive, something we have always wanted to do but haven't had a reason to before now. We will be doing this on 28th May and would be so grateful of you would be able to sponsor us to raise funds for the charity. Any amount you can spare will make a huge difference. Me and Michael will be running the Sheffield half marathon on 29th March in memory of our loving Grandad Lol. Grandad would always donate to Firefly as much as possible as he had to use them and it was a massive help to us all.

We would love to raise as much money as possible in his memory.

I’ve done something a little bit crazy and signed up for the Sheffield Half Marthon

on the 29th March!! I’ve never been a super keen runner but over the last year have caught the bug so wanted to use said bug to do something good for a local cause

Last year, we managed to raise enough money to set up the Daisy’s Dream Firefly Lodge, providing a space for patients to relax and enjoy some family time together. This year, we want to expand our fleet and invest in another Firefly Express vehicle to further support local cancer patients and relieve some of the stress. Firefly helps so many people in their most vulnerable times of cancer treatment providing the best services to transferring to and from appointments and treatment all for FREE.

All powered by the selfless volunteers to help the tough times less stressful during and after treatment .All funds go towards keeping the fleet on the road and the ability to get patients where they need to be, as a family who’s supported Firefly in the past as fundraisers, volunteer and service users this fundraiser is just a small way of giving back to such a amazing charity .

Cancer is a life changing illness that doesn’t just affect the patient — it touches and changes the lives of the whole family, the stress, worry, and fear can make it difficult to function as you normally would — and having support, whenever and wherever you can, can make all the difference.

That’s why we are doing this office walk from Rossington to Sheffield Cathedral: to raise the profile of Firefly and let people know they are there to help, and that their services should be used.

Firefly’s mission is to improve the lives of local cancer patients and their families by providing practical support, raising awareness, and breaking down the stigma around personal cancer issues.

By fundraising for Firefly, we hope to give something back for all the incredible work they do every day — offering transport, guidance, and care to people in our local community.

This charity is based right here in Doncaster, and more people should know about it. Every step we take on this walk, and every pound we raise, helps Firefly continue their vital work and ensures that no one has to face cancer alone.

Hi, my name is Andi Keats and in 2025 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After my operation I had to undergo Radiotherapy at Weston Park Hospital in Sheffield. Firefly Cancer Charity Transport were there for me, taking me to and from my appointments every day as they do for thousands of people across North Nottinghamshire & South Yorkshire, removing a lot of the stress and worry of getting patients to their cancer treatment at a very difficult time in people’s lives. Their volunteers go above and beyond to ensure every patient is looked after THEY ARE AMAZING PEOPLE !

I would like to try and pay a bit back, so please support me on my walk from Weston Park Cancer Hospital Sheffield, to Doncaster Royal Infirmary 24 miles in one go, on 3rd May 2026, I will be doing this mostly on my own but with support from friends and family to drag me along !

I am trying to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful charity, let’s keep them rolling, your contribution can make a real difference, thank you

Supporting Firefly – Our Way of Saying Thank You

This year, our family received news that changed everything — my dad was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus. He’s currently having treatment in Sheffield, five days a week, and it’s been a tough journey for all of us.

Throughout this time, one incredible organisation has made a huge difference — Firefly.

Firefly provide free transport for cancer patients and their families to and from hospital appointments. They don’t just drive people; they bring comfort, reassurance, and kindness when it’s needed most. For us, they’ve been a lifeline — taking away one of the biggest worries during an already overwhelming time.

To give something back, Steven, Josh, and Lily-Rose are taking part in The Run for Wildlife NIGHT 5k on 4th January 2026. They’re running in honour of my dad and in support of Firefly, so this amazing service can continue helping other families going through cancer treatment.

Every single donation, big or small, will help Firefly keep doing what they do best — supporting people when they need it most.

In June this year my mum was diagnosed with Cancer of the oesophagus. It was a total shock and as a family we had never experienced anything to do with this awful disease so we had many questions we needed answering . We didn’t expect mum not to be here this Christmas but unfortunately she passed away on September 9th. Because the time of diagnosis and mum passing we managed to care for mum ourselves and didn’t need any outside support. I think we would have very much benefited from some help and understanding with this disease. We as a family were lucky enough to manage getting mum to hospital ourselves on the rare occasion she had to attend but because she couldn’t have treatment we didn’t make many journeys . If we did have to make the journeys I know we would have struggled and this organisation would have been a life line as I know it is to many people .

This Saturday I am doing the equivalent to the three peaks but in a gym environment (SQUAD Wath-Upon-Dearne) which will involve running, bike and ski. I would be very grateful for your support .

Most of you know last year Karl was diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer.

As part of his treatment he had to travel to Western Park Hospital Monday to Friday for 7 consecutive weeks.

This is when we were told about Firefly… a charity with amazing volunteers who pick the patient up from their door and drive them to hospital. Returning them to their front door once their daily treatment is over…. This service was a godsend for us . Karl is now cancer free ❤️❤️and having felt slightly useless throughout his treatment and recovery i decided i wanted to try and give something back to this charity that took away so much stress (and arguments about my driving/parking / timekeeping lol)

So on Saturday 20th September with family and very special friends we will be taking part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge to raise money for Firefly.

The Annual 7th Wallython walk takes place on 16th August 2025 and starts at Weston Park and ends at The Salutation in Doncaster. A 27 mile walk through Sheffield, Rotherham, Conisbrough, Balby and finally through the City Centre finishing at everyone's favourite watering hole The Salutation.

Every penny raised will go directly to Firefly to ensure the wheels keep turning.
