Centaur Stride, Inc.

My name is Matt and I have been riding at Centaur Stride for FOURTEEN years! I love going there and riding Dude. I need to ride Dude because he is narrow across his withers so I can get my legs around him. He is very gentle. I can ride by myself and I can also trot. I really enjoy learning new drills. Dude will walk beside me by command, without having his lead rope attached. I also love riding the trails, especially the new trails across the bridge. Please help me help Centaur Stride, the horses, and all the people who ride there by participating in this year’s Walkathon. This year the Walkathon will be held virtually so I’ll be walking around my neighborhood with my mom to help raise money needed to take care of Dude for the next year. It’s very expensive to take care of a horse, and I like knowing I can help out. My family helps out a lot, and my mom is the Treasurer on the Board of Directors. I am 17 years old, and I have been riding at Centaur Stride since I was three years old. I learned how to ride on Maple, and then progressed to riding Pixie. This past year, I have been riding Dude as well as a couple of other horses. I love riding through the woods and exploring new trails. I enjoy working with the instructors and learning how to groom and take care of the horses. Riding horses has helped me learn the rhythm of a natural walking gait. It has improved my balance. Plus, it’s just fun!

I want to continue helping Centaur Stride, the horses, and all the other people who ride there by participating in this year’s walkathon. I’m going to be walking to help raise the $3500 needed to take care of a horse for the next year. Because of the pandemic, I will be walking outside this year – hopefully the snow will be gone and I can walk in the woods. If not, I will be walking on the path in Mayville near Chautauqua Lake.
