Hello my name is Indea and my nanna is called Enid,

In 2019, my nan had a heart attack while we were out walking in a remote area. She collapsed and stopped breathing—it was terrifying. I called 999 and followed their advice until paramedics arrived and took over. She later needed life-saving heart surgery called aortic valve reconstruction with Osaki procedure and single LIMA to LAD, which was made possible by the incredible cardiology team and advanced technology at UHCW. If she hadn't had this surgery, she would only have had 3 months to live.

Thanks to their care, she’s still with us today and continues to receive ongoing support. I’m forever grateful, and I want to give back by running the London marathon and raising money for the British Heart Foundation, so others can have the same chance my nan did.

Hi, I’m Rachael and have always said I’d run a marathon but have never had a strong enough reason to dedicate myself to do it.

On 1st April 2025 my dad, best friend, and role model heartbreakingly left this world which is inexplicably painful. I lost my dad completely unexpectedly & suddenly, phoning an ambulance for him on the Friday and lost him on the Tuesday after he underwent 3 major surgeries in 3 days.

Dad was always so kind and supportive of me and challenged me to achieve what I thought was out of reach. Right now, having never ran a day in my life, I think a marathon is out of reach - but I am doing this for him & for other Rachael’s and families out there so that hopefully they will get many more years with their dad and loved ones.

Ultimately, my dad being taken away from me at the age of 25 was due to circulatory problems which is one of the reasons why I have chosen to raise money for BHF. I have also lost grandparents to the cruel disease that is dementia & currently work for an amazing Dementia Research Centre where I can see first hand the life changing possibilities research can bring.

So please join me in my running, my grief, and my love for my dad by donating and sharing. I hope to raise 80-hundred pounds (£8000) as Dad would have been 80 the month I run the marathon.

More than just a climb, this is a heartfelt mission fueled by personal experiences. We're channeling our collective strength and determination to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation. Hello, I will be cycling in 2 days from The Captain Mannering to the Greenwich Observatory in London via the national cycle route 13 on the 28th of February to the 1st of March to support the British Heart Foundation because both my grandfathers died to a heart failure so I am aiming to raise £2,000 to the British Heart Foundation so no one else has to suffer from heart failures and related diseases.

Recently, our rugby community was shaken by the sudden loss of one of the colts parents, John Kemp, who tragically suffered a fatal heart attack at a game. He was a truly lovely man — kind, selfless, and always ready to lend a hand.

Though he and his son Jack had only joined the club for colts, he made a lasting impact on everyone — players, parents, and coaches alike. He gave his time to mentor the Colts whenever he could and embodied everything great about the rugby spirit. Furthermore, for many of the colts, they had played together with Jack across multiple clubs for nearly ten years, making it an even harder face to say goodbye to.

To honour his memory and support others affected by heart conditions, we’re raising funds for the British Heart Foundation, helping to fund vital heart research and support families facing similar heartbreak.

As a tribute and for repayment for the impact he had on our colts team, me, Archie and ex-colt James, have set ourselves the challenge of running 115 miles (185km) — the equivalent distance from the Billesley Common to the Principality Arena — throughout the Six Nations, starting from 5th February . That’s 5km a day for the 37 day-long tournament, through the rain and cold, in honour of a man who was truly rugby through and through, and a proud Welshman at heart. On the final day of the Six Nations, we hope to bring everyone together — former and current Colts, friends, families, and anyone who’d like to join — for a special run from Five Ways Old Edwardians (his former club) to Birmingham Moseley RFC, finishing in time to watch the final games on the 14th March and raise a pint to a lovely man, gone far too soon.

On the 3rd May 2026 I am running my first ever half marathon and I am raising money for the British Heart Foundation.

In December 2024, my uncle John unexpectedly passed away due to a heart attack. Exactly Ten years earlier, in December 2014, I lost my grandad Don unexpectedly due to heart disease and also lost my grandad bill to heart failure in 2024. This has completely broken us as a family.

My uncle Paul has also since required heart bypass surgery, highlighting how heart and circulatory conditions can run in families and affect people across generations.

The impact of heart disease has been devastating and has left a lasting effect on us as a family and I am sure a lot of other families have experienced this too.

Heart and circulatory diseases affect millions of people in the UK and remain one of the leading causes of death.

Many heart conditions develop gradually and without obvious symptoms, meaning they can go undetected until they become serious or life-threatening.

By fundraising for the British Heart Foundation, I hope to support vital research into early detection, better treatments, and prevention, so that more families can be protected from the impact of heart disease.

Owen Williams and Hari Clishem will be walking from Cwm Ystradllyn to Croesor then to Llanfrothen to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. This is also a part of our BAC task in college. This walk we be around 20 miles and we will be very thankful for any donation. We will be raising money for the British Heart Foundation because their work plays a crucial role in tackling one of the UK’s biggest health challenges and supporting those affected.Owen ‘in 2015 I lost my Taid ‘Huw’ due to a heart attack and also my other Taid, ‘Dafydd Morris’ has suffered due to heart problems’. ​The Challenge: Dusting off the Trainers

​The last time I officially clocked a 10km run was back in 2016. Since then, life has happened, habits have changed, and the "running version" of me has been in a very long period of hibernation.

​Stepping back onto the pavement now feels like a completely different world. I’m trading my comfort zone for early mornings, sore legs, and the mental battle of proving I’ve still got it. It’s going to be tough, it’s going to be sweaty, and it’s definitely going to push me to my limit.

​Why the British Heart Foundation?

​I’m doing this because heart and circulatory diseases still affect millions of families across the UK. The BHF is at the forefront of life-saving research—funding breakthroughs in heart transplants, pacemakers, and cures for inherited heart conditions.

​By supporting my run, you aren’t just helping me get across the finish line; you’re helping to fund the research that keeps hearts beating and families together.

Hi, my name is Ray Hankinson. I am 66 yr old and retired. In 2022 my wife Susan caught Covid and it left her with Heart failure and we nearly lost her. Fortunately with the care from the NHS and meds and pace maker and defib implant she is still with us. It’s my belief that without the research by the BHF I would have lost her years ago, so as a thank you I am doing a fund raiser walk called “ Ray walks the Wanny”. I intend to walk the full length of the river Wansbeck in Northumberland, England keeping the river within eye sight or ear shot as best as possible from sea to source, a distance of 33 mile in a day. please will you help me in making a difference? I’m raising money to benefit British Heart Foundation, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
