Val Verde folks!

Rainbow Ridge and March Middle School continuously have kittens during kitten season. To humanely approach this, a few of us staff were working together to TNR the group. However, since they are all very young and can be socialized, we reached out to ARE Animal Rescue to inquire about taking them in.

We are currently counting 8, and that is after ARE took in 2. Our goal is to raise enough to sponsor 8 kittens/cats for spay or neuter and vaccinations. Each cat sponsor is $267. This means these kittens will not be put back onto the streets to fend for themselves. This means they will be cared for and put up for adoption through the rescue to find their forever homes. The rescue ensures to always have a home for them. As a volunteer with this rescue, I can promise you that every dollar will go towards the medical care and needs of these Rainbow Maverick kitties ❤️

The rescue has explicitly expressed they know that this total is a lot for school staff, but in order for them to continue to address the overpopulation of cats in a humane way, a sponsorship is crucial for them to continue their work. Every dollar counts!

At ARE Animal Rescue, we take in kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs who need a second chance at life. Once we welcome these animals into our care, we accept full responsibility — including covering the vet costs of spay/neuter surgeries prior to adoption.

In July alone, we took 117 pets to the vet for these essential surgeries — 99 kitties and 18 pups. This effort cost us $12,760 just for that month. But this is ongoing. In June, we had over 100 surgeries at a similar cost, and starting next week, we’ll be taking another 100+ pets to the vet for August surgeries.

Paying these vet bills is a huge financial challenge for our non-profit 501(c)(3) rescue, especially since fundraising has not yet caught up with the demand. On top of the medical care, we dedicate ourselves to finding every one of these animals a loving forever home.

This past Tuesday, we spent $5,500 on lifesaving spay and neuter surgeries for 53 cats in our care. While this was a major victory for these cats, we have hundreds more waiting to be next.

Due to lack of funding, We are now facing the heartbreaking reality that we may have to cancel 55 more scheduled spay/neuter surgeries next week simply because we can’t afford them. Without immediate help, these animals will be forced to wait—and every delay decreases our ability to continue helping our desperate community. Causing more litters being born on the streets and in danger and into an already overwhelmed system.

As a no-kill rescue committed to ending pet overpopulation and keeping animals out of high-kill shelters, we know how critical spay and neuter services are. These aren’t just appointments—they’re prevention. They’re protection. They’re a promise we made to these animals when we took them in.

But we can’t do it without you.

We’re at an all-time financial low. Our shelves are bare, and our resources stretched thinner than ever. This $5,500 will directly cover the cost of the surgeries already completed—so we can keep moving forward and not cancel the care that’s so desperately needed next week.

Emergency Rescue – 9 Lives Thrown Away

Early this afternoon, ARE Animal Rescue was alerted to an unthinkable situation: a mama cat and eight kittens were tossed out of a pickup truck in a milk crate—onto the freeway.

Miraculously, a good Samaritan saw it happen and got them to safety. A local vet gave them emergency care, amazingly all were somehow unharmed, and our founder dropped everything to go get them and bring them into our rescue.

They’re now safe with us at ARE Animal Rescue—but this wasn’t planned, and caring for 9 unexpected cats is a financial strain. With vetting, food, vaccines, spay/neuter, and supplies, the total cost will be around $2,400.

We never turn away animals in crisis. But we can’t do it alone.

About ARE Animal Rescue:

We are a no-kill, non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue based in Hemet, California. Our goal is to reduce euthanasia in high kill shelters by rescuing underage animals. We provide them with a safe and loving home until they are ready to be adopted. We adopt our animals complete with alteration (Spay/Neuter), first shots, deworming, flea/tick treatment, and a microchip. Microchips allow pets & their family to be reunited in case a pet is lost. This keeps animals out of the shelter and returns them home safe! We are in seven PetSmart Adoption Centers in Southern California to give our kitties the best chance to be seen by their future forever families.
