Help a Dumped Mama Cat and Her Unborn Kittens Get a Second Chance

Today, someone pulled up outside ARE Animal Rescue in a black pickup truck, took a terrified cat out of the vehicle, literally dumped her outside our fence while we were calling for him to wait, and sped away with gravel flying.

Thankfully, since our staff had heard the kitty screaming, we were already outside and able to get her safely into a carrier before she could run into traffic or disappear into the nearby orange groves.

She is safe now.

She is incredibly sweet and friendly.

And she is pregnant.

While we don't yet know how many kittens she's carrying, the average litter is about five kittens. That means we could soon be caring for six lives instead of one.

At ARE Animal Rescue, our average cost to rescue, spay/neuter, vaccinate, microchip, and prepare a cat or kitten for adoption is $267 per cat. If this mama has an average-sized litter, we'll invest approximately $1,602 in giving this family the healthy future they deserve—and that's assuming there are no medical complications from today's events.
