Thanks to the amazing work of NHS doctors and the Anthony Nolan charity, Andy was successfully matched to a bone marrow donor in 2019 and stayed in remission until 2024, enjoying a good quality 5 years of playing golf, snooker, and going on many holidays which he enjoyed.

Unfortunately when it returned he could not get into remission through chemotherapy, however if he did, the charity would have supported him again for a 2nd transplant, as it does for many others.

While Andy is no longer with us, he was a big advocate of the charity that helped save his life and would have loved to see money go towards helping people like him.

On 20th January, after a long wait of several years, Hallie's much-loved Uncle Philip finally had his stem cell transplant to help combat a rare form of lymphoma. He is now facing a long period of recovery which includes the initial few weeks and possibly months, in isolation.

During this time, we wanted to do something positive, so Hallie has decided that she would like to climb as many Dartmoor Tors as possible, and will keep going until Philip is allowed home. This could be as little as one month or as many as 3 or 4, depending on his recovery. Therefore, we will just keep going! All money raised will go to Anthony Nolan - a charity which has given invaluable advice and support to Philip and our family, as well as many other people who are waiting for stem cell transplants. hi there my name is Dillon whittaker and I have not had the easiest past few months of losing two close relatives of my grandad to pancreatic cancer and most recent my mum Julie ,a young, loving role model , to stem cell cancer as I want to raise money to spread the awareness of this disease and a little amount of money goes along way for example just as little as 40 pound can help the Anthony Nolan trust add the details of every potential lifesaver and up to 100 pound helps fund groundbreaking research for such a deserved trust.

so even though Julie has left us physically she will forever be with us mentally and any donations will be appreciated to go to a great cause and to sponsor me for this run to raise awareness and spread the word so we can make her proud forever in our hearts

When my best mate Louie was just 17, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and after years of gruelling chemo, radiotherapy, and finally a stem cell transplant, he thankfully made it into remission, where he remains today.

The Anthony Nolan Charity played a crucial role in making that possible. Their life saving work gives hope and support to people like Louie, and countless others, who face the monumental challenge of cancer treatment and recovery.

On November 16th, I’ll be running the Queenstown Marathon in New Zealand with my girlfriend Anastasia to raise funds so Anthony Nolan can continue helping people like my mate Louie.

James’ Story -

“After four lines of therapy, including a self stem cell transplant, 80% of people recover from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Unfortunately, I’m one of the 20% who face a significant medical challenge after that — sadly, things didn’t work out.”

James is now preparing for an important donor stem cell transplant, which will rebuild his immune system and hopefully allow him to beat the disease once and for all.

If all goes well, this treatment could take place in late January.

In aid of James’ story I will be doing Movember for a great cause. Any donations would be very appreciated.

Sadly following recent shoulder surgery Im unable to ride the roads BUT instead and in support will be doing the 60 mile ride on a static bike. Please join me in supporting this terrific cause? This year, we’re taking on two marathons, Sydney (Rosie) and Melbourne (Ben), to raise money for Anthony Nolan, a charity that helps people with blood cancer and blood disorders. For us, this challenge is especially personal and we’ve seen first-hand how vital charities like Anthony Nolan are.

Anthony Nolan runs the UK’s stem cell register, matching patients in desperate need with lifesaving donors. They also carry out pioneering research to improve transplant outcomes, support patients and families through incredibly tough times. Their work gives people the chance of a future - something we don’t take lightly.

We want to do something positive in the middle of a really tough time, and running for Anthony Nolan feels like the best way to channel that.
