Help with food, bills

Donation protected
I am fundraising to support a family with food, bills and other household expenses over the next few weeks due to crisis.

On Wednesday, the 35 year old mother of 5 phoned for Police assistance in a family dispute. This woman was then imprisoned for 14 days for failure to pay a fine relating to an unregistered dog from 2012.

In accordance with the family's wishes, I will not identify the woman. Please consider the family's right to privacy and the possibility of further repercussions if the woman is named at this time.

Her children range in age between 2 and 18 years and are now being cared for in the home by a family member. The household's electricity has been cut off and the family have limited financial means with which to pay the amount owing at this time.

Being in prison will likely see this woman's Centrelink payments ceased and all of the direct debits she has set up to pay her various accounts (rent, utilities bills) will bounce back.

The family has given their permission  to establish this Go Fund Me account. The funds raised will be given directly to the family alongside practical and emotional support from the First Nations Homelessness Project.
