Youth With A Mission Course Fees

Donation protected

Marine Reach is a YWAM base in Tauranga, New Zealand. They run ships that provide medical aid and Christian teachings - similar to Mercy Ships. I will be doing the ‘Go Pacific’ course – which means that once I have done the lecture phase, I will be going out to the islands around New Zealand, getting involved with the culture and community of the people there, handing out Bibles and speaking to the youth.

Why YWAM?

The Pacific Islands are often perceived as ‘paradise’ and ‘idyllic’ with images like this one with blue skies and crystal clear water.

However the truth is that the Pacific islands are some of the hardest hit areas in the world by natural disasters due to climate change. The islands are situated within the cyclone belt and the Pacific Ring of Fire, which means that earthquakes, tsunamis, flash flooding and cyclones are frequent, with an average of 41 tropical cyclones occurring each year! Pair their high rate of natural disasters with their geographical remoteness and you end up with some of the most vulnerable nations in the world. The reality looks a bit more like this:

Not only do the people in these countries deal with natural disasters, they are also susceptible to extreme poverty and tropical diseases. Approximately 38% of people in Papua New Guinea live below the National Basic Needs Poverty Line, and more than half the country does not have access to safe drinking water. Additionally, education within in the region is often lacking with about 45% of adults in the Solomon Islands not being able to read.

It is for these reasons that I feel called to this area, so that I can try to help make a difference in the lives of the people living there. Through YWAM I will be equipped not only to grow in my knowledge and relationship with God, but also help people who really need it.

The course starts on 21 October 2018, and the  total cost is NZD $10,490 (AUD$9628). These fees cover tuition, accommodation, food, stream activities, and all school related transportation costs for the 12 weeks of Lecture Phase. It also includes all meals, flights, accommodation, transport, field supplies and visas required during the 8 weeks of outreach.

Any small contribution you can make will be hugely appreciated, as are your prayers for the school and for me. If you have any questions or would like updates whilst I am there please feel free to contact me at any point.

Thank-you so much in advance.

Much love - Bec Coetzee
