Going Home

Donation protected
He came in 2007, age 15, to the U.S. to a new family—mom, dad, five brothers, a sister—and a new life. He graduated from high school and college and will soon complete a master’s degree.

But always there was Uganda.

He stayed in touch with the aunt who became a mother to him after his own died when he was three. He talked on the phone, texted cousins and his remaining biological sister, Leah. She asked him to name her first baby, Manchester—after his beloved soccer team.

Now Timothy Sebaduka Brass is ready to go back, to reconnect with the place that will always be home. He wants to see his sister who is raising two young children alone as she struggles with HIV. He wants to be there for his aunt who was recently diagnosed with cervical cancer. He’s ready to explore what it means to have home and family be more than one place, one set of people—how all of that makes him who he is, what it means for the future, theirs and his.

It’s time.

Please support his journey.
