Help The Gedgaudas Family
My name is Alex Gedgaudas, I'm Sherry's Gedgaudas's oldest child. My family and I were all in Houston when Hurricane Harvey made landfall.
On behalf of our family, my siblings and I are asking for help. Hurricane Harvey devestated Texas and my family was one of many whose home was lost in the devastation.
With the exception of some clothes and a few mattresses, we lost everything we own to mud and sewage filled flood waters. Twenty plus years of memories and belongings are gone forever. Given we were not told we moved into a floodzone, we never got flood insurance.
Right now, my family is homeless and currently living out of our van or a hotel when we can find one that allows dogs.
The company we rent from is doubtful they'll be able to fix our home or even find us another place to rent within the next couple months. Given our security deposit is tied up within the house that was destroyed by the hurricane, we're struggling to come up with the money to pay for another rental. My family and hundreds of others are NOT recieving any government coverage after this disaster. Given we are living in a hotel or our van, we don't qualify for assistence from organizations. The Red Cross only provides food and water to individuals in shelters, not to anyone else. They do not help anyone find a new home. FEMA does not help victims either. They wait a month or longer so they can personally view damages before helping.
Sherry and her family are not asking for anything exuberent. We would deeply appreciate the smallest of donations. Anything will go towards food, clothing, or paying for our hotel rooms while our family tries to figure out how to piece our lives back together.
