Doula fund

Hi friends!

This is very out of character for me, and something I'm a bit insecure about doing, but I figured it's worth a shot and anything would help us tremendously.

Obviously in just a few short months, I will be giving birth to our baby boy. Which is so exciting and also super nerve wracking and scary all together. Unfortunately I was unable to get a midwife due to not calling around soon enough (basically as soon as I took the test I should have)... I've been on many waitlists for months but it's not looking in my favour, everyone is booked past December. :( Being our first child, there's tonnes of unknown things that are hard to prepare for going into labour. Yes, there are classes, that are $200+ for 1 to 2 LONG days of too much stuff  to even retain, in a room full of people. I've also probably read more information than my brain can handle at this point. It's making me a bit stir crazy with anxiety to be honest.

The more and more I talk to people who have had babies recently and the more I've read, the more my heart really believes having a doula would be the most valuable thing, not only for myself but for the both of us during this crazy time.

Doula's are birth coaches, supporters and assist the woman before, during, and after childbirth. They provide so much help before labour, give you one on one classes in the comfort of your home, are there for you from the very start of labour until hours after to make sure everything is perfect. They help not just you, but your spouse as well with emotional support and provide so much knowledge and care to avoid postpartum depression afterwards. I can't count how many people have told me it's the best decision I could ever make and how much of a difference it had on their pregnancy and birth (especially if they had their previous without)

Unfortunately any doula I have looked into is $800+. This includes 2 at home visits with coaching and classes, being their through the entire labour with amazing tools to help with contractions, taking your first pictures, staying there until you need them, and 2 visits afterwards to help with the healing process.

I don't expect much from anyone,  and I know most people throw baby showers for gifts, but we've fortunate enough to get most of the important, expensive, baby stuff handed down to us from other family members and friends that no longer need them. I know this is less traditional than gifts, but honestly, if anyone can spare one of their $2-$5 coffees this week and could help us raise even SOME of the money towards this huge expense, it would be so greatly appreciated. Anything helps in the long run.

Thank you ❤️
