The World Of Our Dreams development phase info My name is Steve Brant. Growing up in NYC, I took a class trip to the UN when I was in 2nd Grade. Seeing people whose jobs were to create World Peace made such a lasting impression that today - nearly 55 years later - I'm setting up a nonprofit educational organization that will bring a very unique, "world peace by design" approach to the quest for global peace and prosperity for all.
The World Of Our Dreams (a 501(c)(3) organization) will combine the "all problems should be seen as design challenges" approach I used during my 15 years as a civil engineer & program manager, my work within the sustainability sciences & corporate social responsibility movements dating to 1991, and my studies of how Hollywood has helped popularize the knowledge, personal values & ethics needed for societal change into one very powerful force for good.
At a time when so many feel hopeless in the face of a system that seems designed to benefit only the rich & powerful in a world stuck in perpetual wars against terrorism or "the others" that can never be won, The World Of Our Dreams will show people, businesses, and governments that the we have the capability - thanks to advances in the sustainable sciences (including the soft sciences of win-win negotiating) - to create "word peace by design". This breakthrough, peace building strategy will focus on both how humanity relates to Mother Nature and how humanity relates to itself.
I announced my plans for The World Of Our Dreams by renting a booth at the Star Trek: Mission New York convention over Labor Day Weekend at NYC's Javits Convention Center. With the help of 3 friends, I proved there is a demand for what The World Of Our Dreams will offer. Nearly 70 people filled out expressions of interest sheets or left other ways to contact them.
Fans of Star Trek are a natural "potential early adopters" audience for The World Of Our Dreams' planned training and public outreach programs. You can watch a promotional video I made at this conference at the "development phase info" link above the main video on this page.
The convention booth cost a total of $4800, including banner and literature printing. This is one expense I'm raising money to cover with this campaign. The next expense is the $400 I spent to attend the 50th anniversary Star Trek celebration in Washington, DC. I took this trip to network with both the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum and Rod Roddenberry, whose foundation used that event to announce the Roddenberry Prize: $1 million total prize money for #BoldlyBetter ideas to help humanity get to the future envisioned by Gene Roddenberry for real.
I will be entering The World Of Our Dreams in this contest. To do this, I will need to file to become a nonprofit organization by the middle of November. This will cost $5000 in legal and accounting fees.
The total for these past and near-term future costs is $10,200. Thank you very much for helping me raise this money. While I can dress well when necessary, I am not financially well off. I have borrowed the money needed to do this so far and plan on borrowing the money needed to keep this going as well.
This is a passion project for me. It has been my dream to contribute to a more peaceful world since I was 7. I grew up in a very violent household as a child, and the vision of peace I got from my trip to the UN helped me survive the daily trauma of those years while also motivating me to become the adult I am today: Someone so well versed in the principles of organizational development, cultural evolution and discontinuous change that I know I can make The World Of Our Dreams a force that will help humanity get to a future beyond war... a future in which people "live long and prosper" (as Mr. Spock would say) throughout the world.
Thank you again for helping me make this happen!
And happy World Peace Day, if you are seeing this on September 21st...the day I am launching this campaign!
