Women's March Southern Oregon 2019, Medford, OR

First and foremost, this year’s Women’s March is about celebration.  For two years, we worked tirelessly to change the social and political landscape of our country.  In the face of massive bigotry, xenophobia, misogyny, and disregard for laws and norms, we stood strong and united with love and purpose to protect our communities and our planet.  So we take this opportunity to be thankful for our accomplishments and grateful for the opportunity to work together toward the common good.

But our work isn’t over yet.  In business, they talk about the importance of building the bench – building depth at the bottom, middle, and top -- to ensure that the team can sustain its performance over time.  And this is what we must do.  We must invest in our community so that we all have the skills and tools we need to be successful over time.

So this year we want to focus on building our bench.  We want to highlight people and organizations that are investing in our community of girls, women, and other underrepresented groups…educating them, mentoring them, and helping them build strength in their minds and in their bodies.  We hope that by bringing attention to the amazing work that’s going on, we can encourage a more diverse group of people to get involved, step up, and become the leaders that we know they can be.

Our fundraising effort this year will be focused on covering the costs of permits, insurance, a temporary stage, chairs for the elderly and disabled, port-a-potties, clean up, and other odds and ends.

We thank you for your support and are looking forward to seeing everyone out there!

Greetings fellow marchers: Plans for the January 19 march and gathering are unfolding quickly and successfully. We have a panel of awesome speakers and equally wonderful talent and music for your listening pleasure. We are especially excited about the girls that will be joining us on stage this year. Our work is also seated in the purpose of promoting safe and empowered environments for girls to grow and become their best selves. Please join us from 11:00 to 1:30 on Saturday the 19th in Hawthorne Park, Medford. Start working on your signs and bring that fantastic women energy we all know and love. Oh yes, food trucks this year. In Solidarity, The Organizers
