Wheels for Desi
These are a few pictures of our best friend Desi. She is a sweet, funny, unique, eighteen year old girl who has cerebral palsy. Her family is currently using a 14 year old van that is not adapted for someone in a wheelchair. Her parents have a daily struggle to break down her wheelchair and physically lift her in and out of the van. Because her van cannot accommodate her power wheelchair, she must leave it at school. Anywhere else she goes, she must be pushed around in her manual wheelchair, so she is unable to move independently in public. Her freedom is limited by her circumstances. The Lord awakened the deep desire to transform Desi’s present situation to Alyssa White and Faith McGilvray. We believe that this change would free Desi to her next chapter in life, as well her parents, who selflessly and tirelessly give to Desi. Our goal is to raise $30,000 to purchase a new van, as well as install the wheelchair conversion. These funds will go directly to Glenda Pacheco, Desi's mom, to purchase the vehicle.+ Read More
Hi everyone!! We are so excited to announce that Desi and her family have purchased an amazing converted Honda Odyssey and are really enjoying it!! Desi is so excited to have her new blue van, and we have attached a video of her initial reaction to seeing it:) We want to sincerely thank every one of you for the important role you have played in this!! Also, Desi’s parents are still paying off part of the van so if you feel led to donate anything more it would be greatly appreciated:) Thanks again for allowing God to use you to change Desi’s life!!
Hi everyone! We have an awesome update for y’all! The church that Desi, her family, and we attend is Bent Tree Bible Fellowship, and they have been so gracious. We are so excited to announce that our church did a special offering for families in need, and one of those families was The Pacheco's. Through this offering, $40,000 was raised to go towards the wheelchair accessible van for Desi and her family. This is on top of the $8,515 already raised through the Go Fund me plus the $10,000 from the anonymous donor. However, due to some government policies for Desi's program, we can't claim any of the government funding we originally thought we were going to be able to use. The government funding would've been $20,000 that would have gone towards the cost of the conversion for the wheelchair leaving no cost to the Pacheco's. Therefore, we need to raise an additional $15,000, which leaves us at a total goal of $22,000 on the Go Fund me page. This will help cover what we can no longer get from her program.
Hi everyone! We are so excited to announce that another anonymous donor has graciously donated $3,500! However due to the fact that go fund me takes a percentage of the donations the $3,500 will not be deposited into the go fund me account which is the best way to do this. This donation means we have now raised $10,000! Now that we have raised $10,000 the other anonymous donor will match it with another $10,000! This donor will not be depositing into the go fund me either. That will put us at a total of $20,135 which is almost 80% of our goal. The next step is to reach 80% of our goal which is $24,000. Once we reach this amount we can apply for a grant that can have a maximum amount of $1,500! We are getting so close. We are beyond thankful to everyone that has donated and prayed for this cause!
